Actually, Mike, the U.S. citizens were held hostages by Iranians who did not want the Shah deposed with the help of Jimmy Carter. I work for an Iranian man who was in Tehran at the time of the hostage situation. He and his family did not want to be under the religious rule of the Iatolahs. That was what he says the hostage situation was all about. He says that the Shah was not perfect, but that under him they had basic freedoms, the women had basic freedoms, and that the Carter administration was hugely responsible for putting Kohmeni in power.

I remember the situation, vaguely. I was only in grade school at the time, but I remember my general impression was that the Iatolah was bad and America didn't like him or want him in power, but as you well know, in government nothing is as it seems or is told to you in the press.

She is very self conscious about real debate with articulate people. Her show is the most carefully managed of them all. I've listened for years, and similar to this administration she simply brooks no dissent.

My favorite Laura moment is when Hannity had her on the TV show and (deliberately I'm quite sure) mispronounced her last name as ing-gra-ham. This was a material problem for her as she describes him as her good friend continally on her radios show. Here she was forced to go with: "oh come on Sean, you and I know each other." LMAO.

Save her last sentence to throw in her face for when Bush announces the pullout in time for this fall's elections. Nicely done, Mike.

Glad you are able to confirm what I've long suspected.

BTW, rather than posting in comments, you can set up a 'jump' like on the Kos diaries. There should be a 'more' button or tag (not sure how you are entering your entries). Not 100% sure how you will eventually use themes, but there should be a way to keep the flash link on the front page and still have extra text after the jump. If your tech can't figure it out, have him (her?) email me.
