I had actually called to make fun of Dick Cheney, but Laura spent a lot of time talking about her trip to Iraq. Evidently, she’s not anything like Bob Woodruff and Doug Vogt… (update on their conditions here) No sirree… She’s not a coward - she’s willing to go get the real story of Iraq… She’s willing to tell you all the news - not just the biased stuff our cowardly network and cable newscasters tell you…

I was game for that. I called in with info about Ibraham al-Jaafari… the newly elected Prime Minister of Iraq.

Here’s what our media isn’t telling you.

So as to not give away the call, I’ll explain the title of the post in the comments…

What I actually said after challenging her (and her listeners) to google the information was “and our guys are dying for those bastards that want to lay wreaths at the tomb of the evil whackjob that held Americans hostage for 444 days…” then she started talking over me.

When it came over the radio, all of that had been “disappeared”. I know these guys have like six or seven seconds delay - so that if you call up and use any of the seven dirty words, they can stop it from being broadcast. Looks like Laura uses that tool to silence people that speak what she would consider “uncomfortable truths”.

So tell me again… what are our brave men fighting for? I don’t think Ms. Courageous would answer that question: “Freedom of expression.” OK, I take that back. We all know how famous the nutters are for their capacity for cognitive dissonance…

Glad you are able to confirm what I’ve long suspected.

BTW, rather than posting in comments, you can set up a ‘jump’ like on the Kos diaries. There should be a ‘more’ button or tag (not sure how you are entering your entries). Not 100% sure how you will eventually use themes, but there should be a way to keep the flash link on the front page and still have extra text after the jump. If your tech can’t figure it out, have him (her?) email me.

Save her last sentence to throw in her face for when Bush announces the pullout in time for this fall’s elections. Nicely done, Mike.

She is very self conscious about real debate with articulate people. Her show is the most carefully managed of them all. I’ve listened for years, and similar to this administration she simply brooks no dissent.

My favorite Laura moment is when Hannity had her on the TV show and (deliberately I’m quite sure) mispronounced her last name as ing-gra-ham. This was a material problem for her as she describes him as her good friend continally on her radios show. Here she was forced to go with: “oh come on Sean, you and I know each other.” LMAO.

Actually, Mike, the U.S. citizens were held hostages by Iranians who did not want the Shah deposed with the help of Jimmy Carter. I work for an Iranian man who was in Tehran at the time of the hostage situation. He and his family did not want to be under the religious rule of the Iatolahs. That was what he says the hostage situation was all about. He says that the Shah was not perfect, but that under him they had basic freedoms, the women had basic freedoms, and that the Carter administration was hugely responsible for putting Kohmeni in power.

I remember the situation, vaguely. I was only in grade school at the time, but I remember my general impression was that the Iatolah was bad and America didn’t like him or want him in power, but as you well know, in government nothing is as it seems or is told to you in the press.
