Occasionally, I’ll come across something that I had nothing to do with, but just needs to be heard (like the Lieberman/Hannity lovefest)… This audio falls into that category.
It comes from this morning’s Tony Snow Show. This woman, from Iowa, had me cracking up. Her fear of the terr’ists was so profound… so all consuming… so complete…
She’s from Iowa. Osama couldn’t find Iowa if it dropped on his head.
This woman makes me fear for humanity… I mean, OK… Y’all are gonna point fingers at me and chant, in unison, “Godwin’s Law!”, but I don’t give a shit… If this woman is so easily trained to fear a bunch of goat herding cave dwellers from half a world away, well, what do you think she would have been saying about Jews if she had been living in Germany in 1939?
So yeah, this is funny… but keep in the back of your mind exactly how scary it is too.

Phew. I couldn’t make it all the way through; I bailed as soon as she started talking about how we can stop buying oil from the Arabs and make do just fine on Alaskan oil and ethanol.
I wonder what traumatic experience that woman went through that made her so unhinged?
It’s simple, she’s been listening to ElRushbo and Crew for the last few years and bought into the ‘terrorists are _everywhere_’ crap.
It’s fanatical, poorly informed, and sadly poorly educated people who just don’t understand how things work.
Actually, I think it can be instructive: this is an example of how the right-wing’s fearmongering has backfired. There was nothing Tony could say that would convince her of his viewpoint. And she almost accused him of being elitist and condescending! Very interesting . . . could it be more crumbling of party discipline, this time in the base?
I’m from Iowa and this is totally disheartening. Every time I see these manipulative politicians on TV I can’t help but imagine the level of ignorance required to beleive them - now I know. The administration wallows in and propogates fear and oppression just as much as the terrorists, and you can see the result of that in the ridiculously inane and hyperbolic tirade this woman goes into. Why people can devote so much energy to being angry, ignorant and arrogant is beyond me… oh wait, yes that’s right - it’s because it’s the easy thing to do. This idiot was probably driving down I-80 on her way to shopping at Coralville, waiting for the fucking 5-acre RainForest Pork Project of Grassley to pop up so she could drive her 2 children to it in her H2 after they were done at the mall. These people will probably never realize how shallow their lives are, emotionally and intelectually.
LOL! I couldn’t make it through the whole thing either! I can’t decide who is more delusional, the woman from Iowa or Tony himself.
The whole port selling mess reminds me of a joke:

This is truly an ignorant statement. This type of comment can be expected from conservative sites like thepoliticalteen.com not from a supposedly “liberal” site. The majority of muslims are not cave dwelling goat herders. They are human beings that deserve respect. I’m a Catholic by birth and by choice. I’m a liberal Democrat that believes all religions are sacred and should be respected. I hope that in the future you will not make this type of statement. It does nothing for the noble cause that you perform. Good luck to you.

Woah! This woman sounds just like “Annie” from Stephen King’s Mysery: “Tony, Tony, don’t get me wrong you silly bird… guess who’s your number one fan?!!”
Shockingly misinformed. I’m almost to a point of apathy towards the ignorant. Much like the chimp in chief they seem to gloriously embrace their ignorance.
1) No economy can run on 100% ethanol. it takes 1.2 units energy to derive 1 unit of ethanol energy. They best you can be at ethanol based fuel is 85% - E85, which a slew of ford vehicles have been capable of running for almost a decade now - but I don’t see E85 pumps everywhere.
2) This deal with DPW in no way frightens me. I’m pretty much hardcore anti-bush but this is all on the up and up. DPW is a very reputable operator and the ports would still be overseen by the office of homeland security (whatever comfort that may be) and the federal port authorities. I think this is purely an unexpected consequence of 5 years of fearmongering as well as America’s inherant racism/xenophobia.
3) These are the people that vote with their “hearts”. they voted for bushie because he has “good moral values” (roflmao) which is rough translation in GOPspeak for “hates gays.”
4) I seriously doubt that this woman is capable of of understanding the political machine, its interface and contention with constitutional limitations, and the battle to dismantle its restrictions that is going on under our noses. Sadly, when thoughtcrime is codified and dissenting blogs are illegal, she’ll be on the forefront of fighting for it.
Man–the lady’s a whacko, but Snow is a riot: “Do you think Osama bin Laden is going to involve himself in a deal that going to be scrutinized by Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld, and John Snow?” as if that answers all objections?
1) all of them say now that they first heard of this deal in the media as a fait accompli
2) I’m sure bin Laden is real scared of the people who let him get away so they could go after Saddam.
This woman’s passion reminds me of my most recent paranoid thought–that the administration floated this whole port-control story in order to keep the fear of terrorism in our minds. On the surface the story looks bad for the Bushies because “they’re letting a country that supports terrorist running our ports!” But actually, this port-control story gets those who throw stones at the Bushies to do it on the administration’s terms–by getting all riled up about The Terrorist Threat. It’s forcing administration critics to play a card game with cards supplied by the administration.
Wow. Just… WOW. I can’t imagine being that afraid - and in Iowa no less. Makes me embarrassed to be an Iowan.
Perhaps she should move to Montana where Dead-Eye Dick can protect her.

Good observation, but if it flips the base out like this woman, then their card game is fo naught. They are getting too much resistance from the base, and that will cause lots of griping in Congress who will then cause all sorts of BS with laws to protect the ports. As if the shrimp listens to laws.

What’s scarier IMHO is Tony Snow, pretending he’s an expert on security and the terrorist mindset. Condi & Rummie & Snowjob will keep ships safe from terrorist plots? And since the port deal is a commercial transaction there’s nothing to worry about? By comparison the Iowa caller seemed amost coherent.

I agree with Voulez Vous. Tony was dumber than the caller. So the terrorists would use those ports because the deal was reviewed by Rice, Rumsfeld, and Snow? Good grief.

The sad truth is that “conservitive” and “liberal” are just mind-control lables that have been used to divide the american people to the point of preping them for Civil War.
