Uh-Oh

O’Reilly might be winning one…

He is, as you all know, a crown jewel for Fox News Channel.  And, uhm…  Hannity is with Fox.  So is Tony Snow.  And John Gibson…  and I gotta think that all these talk radio wingnuts talk to each other…

I just got through to Hannity - used my real name - Mike from Albany.  Gave the screener a good talking point - that the Colorado teacher was teaching a debate class - not geography as Hannity has been claiming.  I was put on hold and held for about ten minutes.  Then the screener came back on the line, sounding confused, and said, “Hey Mike - call me back tomorrow.”

I’m wondering if there is a little effort going on over at Fox - an effort to shut me out.

I’ll keep you posted.

He teaches a debate class? Where did you get that “information” from? He’s a geography teacher.

And by the way, you may like to imagine Fox is trying to keep you off Hannity’s radio show, but by now you should know that it is on ABC, not Fox.

I gotta say, man, that this is the most lame thing I’ve run across in awhile. What are you, like 12? You and I probably agree on a lot philosophically, but I don’t see what it is you’re trying to do. I have no use for these radio creeps, and they’re mostly just preaching to the choir, anyway. But as soon as the mainstream media finds out what you and others are doing, it will give the rest of us on the left yet another black eye. This is what we want to be known for? This is no better than the Jerky Boys. How does this succeed in getting a positive message about our cause out to those who might be swayed?

In essence, you want people to think of us on this side as ones who are willing to lie to get on talk shows and just say things that make us look childish. And that yields what? Good feelings about Progressives? Think about it.

You need to channel your energy into something more useful and positive. If you’re that committed to the Liberal message, do something that’s both mature and passionate. Making prank phone calls that mention someone who has a public feud with O’Reilly? Who cares about him! In the grand scheme of things, he has, what, 3 or 4 million fans out of a universe of 150 million adults? Don’t flatter the guy. You’re just feeding into his bullshit and his ego. Seriously…

It just amazes me that people who are supposedly on our side end up doing things that will eventually just sabotage our efforts. It’s mind-boggling. We should be kicking butt, politically, given that total incompetent dolt in the White House. But it ain’t happening. And it’s because of crap like this. When middle America sees this kind of nonsense, and the over-the-top lunacy of Cindy Sheehan, et. al, it’s just another nail in our collective coffins. Grow up, man. You’re killng us.

Keep up the good work, Mike!

LeftisRight sounds a little to right to be left, if you ask me. Is CAWN hitting a bit too close to home?

Hey man, screw that leftisright guy. He’s a simpering worrier. You’re driving O’Reilly nuts, and anything that drives a national conservative figure nuts is great. The raconteur is an honored role, in my opinion. Why not use Skype and a different name? They can’t trace you and you can get on the show. :D

I hear what you’re saying, but I gotta admit, the high road has gotten us nowhere. Look at Kerry during the election campaign - by not striking back at the Swiftboaters immediately and forcefully, he was toast. I got the impression he felt that by being lured into defending himself against the lie, he would somehow lend credence to it. Forget dignity, it got him nowhere. Fast.

My husband has always said that Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannity and the rest of the rightwing radio circus is all about entertainment; they’re showmen. But I disagree with his contention that they speak only to their base, that they are not taken seriously, yada yada yada. One has only to look back on the Nazism and how Hitler was not taken as a serious threat until it was too late. These guys on the right have slowly, steadly taken over the dial. They screen callers to maintain an upper hand, they tend not to allow dissenters to remain on their blog comments - if they even have them - and they play tricks to keep damaging debate off their airways.

Limbaugh is considered a serious guest on the cable news shows. Politicians use these wingnut tools to further their agenda. If Mike Stark has the verbal accumen to get on the phone and make these guys twist in front of their base - if he is able to infiltrate their airtime and start a campaign to expose these guys as the ass clowns that they are - then I say more power to him.

Frankly, I am damn sick of the left sitting on their hands and then whining that there is “no backbone” in our party. If more and more of us stand up and take action then at least we are doing SOMEthing to further our cause than wringing our hands about “over the top lunacy”. It voices like yours, LIF, with all due respect, that hurt the Democratic party.

Enough with the highroad, let’s fight.

I’ve seen LeftIsRight at several blogs. He uses that handle frequently, and he’s always bashing lefties. Always. He’s an obvious troll.

Geez LeftisRight… I think you are over reacting. ….this is just some fun with a pompous old blowhard. Does anyone on either side take O’Reilly seriously? I doubt it…. he is just a silly bullying jackass….entertaining to some I guess…but I think anyone concerned with legitimate issues on either side just dismisses him. His show is basically all crap all the time.

I think goofy old O’Reilly deserves to be treated in the same sophomoric manner he treats others…threatening to call security and such….how silly.

    Dear Critics,

Look at Mike’s record. Aside from the recent O’Reilly fun, Mike has spent his entire call-in career engaging these clowns in serious, reasoned, heated debate. This O’Really stuff is about playing king of the mountain… We see a man off balance, teetering, and are obliging him with a swift push over the edge.
O’Falafel is more fun and games, but this movement is about debate and exposing these shills for what they are; human RNC talking point faxes. Read the tips page, nowhere does it discuss juvenile pranks; it discusses how to get the liberal POV out and win the argument.

He teaches a debate class? Where did you get that “information” from? He’s a geography teacher.

Yes, he is a geography teacher who was teaching a debate class.

Was that so hard to follow?

  11. 11 LefisRightisBillO'Reilly

Hey, Bill, is that YOU? Pretending to be LeftisRight?? You are so funny!! Do you like falafel???

I have heard Mike Stark on the radio numerous times. He is articulate, polite and reasonable. Now - do the hosts treat him politely?? No. A big Hannity tactic is to say, “You a lib, tell us about your blah, blah, blah.” And then, when a person makes a good point, you can hear 1/2 of it before they cut you off. Today, that teacher’s lawyer said that the teacher had both sides of the spectrum on the website for the class, both far left and far (cut his mic!!!) They do not allow a person to make an intelligent, reasoned statement without poisoning the well (do you denounce Hillary Clinton’s statement about the plantation?), throwing out red herrings, putting out distracting statements, or outright lying.

And I think Hannity is the scariest of them all, because he puts that nice guy act on better than the rest - but he is absolutely evil, through and through, making his big bucks from his tax cuts on the back of his listeners, allowing no dissent, and encouraging his listener’s who are in school to secretly tape their teachers like a bunch of little Hitler Youths. Does he not even think about the historic precedents that he is following?? If you want to destroy the liberal elites in the universities, than you have to get some smart, unselfish people to work in the universities and change them from within. But they cannot - because republicans are generally too damn greedy to work for the pittance they can make in academia, when they have so many opportunities to make tens of millions of dollars screwing Grandma out of her pension.

Eventually, all of the people WILL catch on and he will be another dumbass loud-mouth like Morton Downer Jr., and not a day too soon.

  12. 12 KfK

“he is a geography teacher who was teaching a debate class.”

Wrong. It’s a world geography class. I ask again, where did this false information come from?

  13. 13 Steve Eddy

Debate class? World geography? I seem to recall someone who was speaking for him on one of the shows saying he was teaching an Advanced Placement (AP) Human Geography class, which would have been in keeping with the kind of comments he was making.

    Mike,

They have probably started logging their incoming caller ID numbers. I don’t know how you do it, and suggest that you don’t make it public for a while unless you are sure it is completely fullproof, but I doubt you will be able to get through to anyone that would bother to listen to O’Reilly and take his database of callers who are making him look like a complete ass.

If you do get through to him again using your own phone number, then I will really be amazed at what a cheap idiot he is. Keep us posted.

  15. 15 Eddie

It doesn’t take too long to find enough instances on Faux News, and the radio shows of their vaunted hosts, of their favorite tactic which is more tan likely at work here. That is, they cleverly omit some crucial piece of information that subsequently mischaracterizes the issue completely. Case in point — Bill O’Lielly’s rant about the X-mas song “Silent Night” that kids were “forced” to sing with modified lyrics. Absent from the discussion was the fact that the song was an original lyric set to the tune of Silent Night that helped convey the story of a play, written by a minister, that the kids were performing. Thus, the modified lyrics make perfect sense to just about anyone — except those intent on waging a phony culture war to their own ends. Here again, it would not be so hard at all to believe that this was deliberately taken far out of context in order to smear liberals and, for that matter, our public education system, which conservatives seem to hate on principle. On seeing the lead-in to the story on Fux News, you would have thought that the students walked out in protest to the teacher’s “rant”, when in fact (an you would not have heard an utterance of this from Fox) they walked out in protest of the teacher’s dismissal!!

In response to the Trackback posted below, that site is extremely awful at cropping information and sloppily pasting it together to present an arguement the has an outer shell that defends thier points, yet has a breakable inside, where facts and truth break it down until it resembles a section that it can fall into the same category as FOX News has dug itself into.
