Hugh Hewitt: racist?
Published by Mike Stark March 31st, 2006 in Hugh HewittYou be the judge.
He claims to be concerned about the southern border for national security reasons. He says that if Republicans want to win on the issue, that’s what they need to hammer over and over again… They must explain to people that border security is national security. We can’t have our Beslan.
We must build a wall across the entire 700 mile expanse of the southern border. We have to keep them out.
It got me to thinking… I believe there are much larger Muslim communities in Canada… And border security along the 49th parallel is fairly minimal along large swaths of the border…
So… given the profile of likely terrorists (and those involved in the Beslan massacre), shouldn’t we be more concerned about terrorists crossing into our country from the north?
Hewitt doesn’t think so.
And he hung up on me rather quickly before we could really begin to explore his real motives…
I don’t think he likes Mexicans.
Do you?

Hughes gone got a new drum. He’s beating the Beslan drum right now on Larry King.
This is the second time I’ve seen this, so I guess it’s not a typo. The border between the U.S. and Canada between the Pacific and the Great Lakes (not counting Vancouver Island) is at the 49th parallel, not the 40th parallel.
The 40th parallel does form the border between Kansas and Nebraska.

“He says that if Republicans want to win on the issue, that’s what they need to hammer over and over again…”
Uh, the Republicans are in charge, what can they hammer home? That they are ineffective liars on the issue?
Mike,
He likes Mexicans…I’m sure he would hire some if he thought it would screw with a union…how many people of Mexican decent are over in Iraq?…Is this a proficent way of keeping up moral…? “yeah, we’re gonna fine your gramdma for the living in the land your protecting”..If they really cared, they would set up several way-stations to speed the process of citizenship at the border, at cost far less then an average months debt in Iraq(9 bil or os right?)…Most Mexicans do not enter the country to run back…they want to work…if you include them on the onset they will be less likely to leave or fall into criminal behavior…They would be more likely to pay taxes and contribute to their neighborhoods…

You’re welcome, Mike.
Hewitt’s a weird guy. He’ll actully let opposing viewpoints talk for a bit, but on the other hand he’s at the nasty end of the wrong-wing spectrum.
He’s changed to a different station in Portland, as has Medved. Perhaps FM station use different compression on their signal, but their voices sound much different.
The latest talking point from the wrong-wingers is that “hundreds of thousands of law-breakers” were at the immigration demonstrations. Our local ranter, Lars Larson, had an opinion piece in today’s local paper, and he made that claim. I emailed him and asked him how he knew that. He responded (weakly) to another issue I raised, but not that one.
One thing to hammer home against these frauds is that they just make stuff up.
