Sean Hannity defends Tom Delay

The audio to this call isn’t the best, but I’ll work on getting a better sample later.  Until then…

I love Sean Hannity.

He wouldn’t talk about Tom Delay…  even after I asked him two or three times to go back and bring up “the criminal”.

Can I tell you folks how much of a heady feeling it is to call Tom Delay a “cockroach” - and know at least 10 million people are going to hear it?  How good it is to know that most of those ten million are in the opposing political camp?

[UPDATE]  Critics should note that Hannity controls the volume of my microphone, the course of the conversation and the connection.  Also note that I always post the entire conversation - including the host’s rambling last word rant.  I never want to be accused of depriving them of context.  The calls I make to wingnuts will never be comparable to NPR fare…  there is absolutely no semblence of reasonable discussion.  Having said all of that, I sincerely encourage those that think there is a better way to pick up the phone, make the call and email me the results (or even the time of your call - I’ll pull the audio off the internet and post your work).

    Mike,
Thank you. That call was priceless. Keep it up. hannity is going to blow a gasket soon!

  2. 2 Ukobserver

THAT was a waste of time. You may have got a finger in the eye but as soon as he dragged you off topic it turned into rabbit punches to the kidneys. I thought the idea of this was to stay focus. It may be his show but just ask him why when you ask about rethug corruption he wants to bring up democrats that haven’t been indicted. You should know his tactics by now (It’s not like its small minty flavoured candy) and you know he drags things down to simple black and white, yes or no soundbites. the simple thing to say is why are you so reluctant to talk about Delay? Everything he said could have been countered, you just diddent do it this time.

  3. 3 Craig

Good call, but when Hannity starts spouting about how liberals won’t argue substance, I would have liked to hear a response like, “OK, you want to argue substance on this issue, Sean, why don’t you tell me what evidence you have seen that proves Tom Delay is innocent of anything?”

I’m sure he would babbled about how the alleged crime was not illegal when Delay committed it, but then you could argue, “Then why hasn’t he been acquitted? I guess all that campaign money he is using to defend himself isn’t enough to find a good team of lawyers!”

Then Sean would start crying and run home to his Mommy! At least, that’s how it plays out in my head.

Also, I know you were being honest about admiring Dean, but you could also have used Barrak Obama as an example of a Democrat you admire. To avoid exposing his underlying racism, Sean would suddenly find himself treading very carefully when wording his attacks on that Democrat.

  4. 4 Joe

I cant believe you let him accuse dems of name calling and then let him proceed to call you names. You also could have brought up how he worships at Ann Coulters feet, yet has never called her out on all her venemous hatred and name calling. Hope Im not coming off as too critical….dont get me wrong…I am proud of what you are doing.

  5. 5 Dav

Mike love your stuff man. Have you considered having people pretending to be far right wing listners of the fascist variety? Expressing teh views of Malkin on hyperbolic terms may make them disavow their racists statements or confirm them. Either way they will divide their listening Audience. It also would be a funny funny role to do this.

Sometimes over at blogsforbush I troll in this manner. I made the suggestion that Mexicans should be forced to wear “Yellow stars of David” to identify who is a citizen and who is illegal.

Despite the outright outrageousness of the suggestion, it actually was thought to be a good idea up until somebody realized that that’s what Hitler did to Jews. Then the blog was divided by commenters in favor of such extremeist measures and those that realized the historical context.

    It was fun.

  6. 6 william wonka

It was nice how he goes into the attack method that he demanded youi to stay away from. As a Physcholgist its my job to listen to people and try to figure out what is causing the emotional dysfunction. When I hear Hannitys’ voice I can sense an anger in him that stems from a deeply rooted disgust with his body. He has a decent physique though, it must be something that can’t be seen in his pictures. Either that or he is trying to sound like Limbaugh in hopes of stealing the dittoheadz.

Keep up the good work Mike,

  7. 7 BlueMan

A good response to his “But that wasn’t what he was indicted for” rant might have been, Sean, tell us all what he was indicted for.

  8. 8 cosmo

hee hee :) thanks for using the “cut and run” phrase right off the bat. Now, we need to do this over and over and over. Can’t wait to hear what O’Cryley says.

  9. 9 cosmo

    P. S. In regards to the critics….under the circumstances, I’d have to give you kudos for even getting past the screeners. As for him changing the subject…I thought it was very clear that you were trying to get him back on to DeLay and that he was filibustering. Not impressive on Hannity’s part whatsoever.

  10. 10 jamieQ

Um, I don’t think this went well for you at all, in fact I stopped listening because I think Hannity was too much for you - maybe have a set of talking points/phrases you repeat no matter how he tries to take you off track?

I wouldnt have the courage to do it so I give you kudos - but get more …steady, say your points - no name calling and be firm.

  11. 11 isaac

i dont care who you are or what youve done, ppl need to stop calling delay cockroach, the exterminator, and other names like that. ppl do that job as a living, sometimes bcuz they have no other way of putting food on the table.
    PS-luv your work

  12. 12 George

Ummmmm….you had a couple of good points, but you actually let Hannity kick your ass! One minute he says you and Dean are ‘name callers’ and then a few sentences later, he starts calling you and Dean names and you don’t even interrupt him? Alec Baldwin put the b*tch in his place because he nailed Hannity for what he is: a bombastic, hypocritical bull$hit artist and he shut him down as soon as he started “we’re at war, blah, blah blah” flag-waving, fake-patriotism bullshit! You’ve got to push these a-holes of the stage and get your act in, before they do the same to you.

    William Wonka wrote:

Wonka - you might find it interesting that Hannity has often said that he doesn’t like to go swimming because he won’t take his shirt off at the pool or beach - no kidding. I’ve heard him say it at least twice.

    And George -
“he starts calling you and Dean names and you don’t even interrupt”
Keep in mind that Hannity “mutes” Mike at his discretion. He only lets him interrupt when he wants to be interrupted. In the Baldwin case, Hannity didn’t have control of the mute.

  14. 14 Andre R

I love that he accuses you of name-calling and then calls you a name in the very next sentence. Thanks again for another priceless example of Republican Hypocrisy.

BTW, it’s very telling that he couldn’t stay on topic. Curious, because I thought he was all about arguing substance, but all he wanted to do was talk about Clinton. In logic, that’s called a “tu quoque” fallacy (latin for “you’re another”) where you try to justify one person’s wrongdoing by pointing out the wrongdoings of another. Hannity is either a genius at mangling logic or a complete single-minded one-track freak. Not sure which, but I consider this call a success on your part.

    Keep knocking ‘em down.

  15. 15 Blue Shark

Why on earth did you run this?

…Slanthead kicks your ass and mops the floor with you.

  16. 16 George

“Keep in mind that Hannity “mutes” Mike at his discretion. He only lets him interrupt when he wants to be interrupted.”

Really??? I’m sorry, I had absolutely no idea that he actually did that. Good lord, is there no end to the douche-baggery of Sean Hannity?

  17. 17 KucinicH

Hanity is such an Asshole, he needs a major ass beating.

Delay is a crook stealing from the people of america.

  18. 18 vitriolix

he ran it because he’s got the balls to open up the dicussion to scrutiney, even if it wasnt his best moment. if he ran just the calls where he “won” the debates, that would have about as much integrity as blatantly riding the mute button in order to assure your opponent can’t make their points. anyhow, mike, you got a couple good shots in, keep it up.

  19. 19 darth zinn

that is why im so afraid of calling into these shows. i think you had like 4 sentenses worth of conversation for the entire time.
but what a great four sentences

  20. 20 Steve Z

To any one of you who says he got his ass kicked, please post the audio of your confrontation with a professional bs spewer like hannity so we can see how its really done.

And if you don’t have one, shut up or pat the guy on the back for standing up to those guys in public and then having the integrity to post it in full. I wish I could do the same.

In fact, honestly, you people who have anything negative to say about it should know better (unless you are an idiot republican, then of course that explains it), and the fact that hannity duped you into thinking he ‘won’ the little discussion just illustrates the problem with these bullies.

Nice job here, I know it isn’t easy.

  21. 21 darth zinn

I replied before I read the responses so I just want to go further than I did in saying that this call was balls to the wall the BEST we can do against some button pusher like Sean.
I like Howard Dean way more than the Clintons and i think he fell on his sword, so to speak, and took the DNC position inthe last election. The guy is a john mccain straight shooter.
And people who are saying you got your butt kicked towards the end of the conversation should realize you DIDN’T speak at the end of the conversation. He cut your mike. When you could speak it was so obvious that you had so much to say and I wish you could say it but that’s the way it goes.
Again, this is why I go to calling all wingnuts

  22. 22 Kingo

Hannity totally dominated that call, he manipulated everything that was said, by linking Dean, who has nothing to do with nothing concerning the topic at hand, and he himself associated liberals with you. You did not need to answer any of Hannity’s questions, he was building you up for his dumbass, baseless soliliquy. Man that really hurt when i heard that. You should’ve stayed on the topic at hand and carried on talking about Delay.

  23. 23 danno

Great job Mike! However, you are dealing from a losing position as soon as he takes your call. He and the rest of his kind have all the cards - mic switch, volume control, tape delay, ad infinitum. You can’t win but you can score points and you are surely doing that with the left. Having said all that I admire your guts. I don’t have what it takes to challenge the wingnuts against such odds. Another strategy that might work is to organize mass call-ins and flood their switchboards with liberal callers. Unfortunately, Hannity, Limbaugh and O’Reilly, et al thrive on any kind of attention; especially the negative variety. It just gives them something more to yell about. We are just enhancing their ratings by paying attention to them.

  24. 24 sam

The problem with calling in to these people like Hannity is because they are not an even-handed discussion. Since Hannity can mute, and has the power to give a long 15 minute rant as compared to your 15 seconds, you’ll never get in anything other than a few “cockroaches.” Fighting right-wing radio with common sense and logic is like a seven year old kid donating his weekly allowance to fight off the national debt. Sure, it’s an honorable thing to do, but in the end it’s a battle one can never win.

  25. 25 chuck 2

If you people hate Hannity so much, don’t listen.
If you hate Wal Mart so much, don’t shop there.
If you hate Republicans, don’t vote for them.

As I read left wing blogs I notice one commone theme; Hate.
I don’t understand it. Isn’t life too short to be consumed with so much hate for your fellow countrymen who just happens to have different views on some political issues?
Don’t you people have jobs, or families that take up your time?

I simply do not understand the intense level of not disagreement or dislike but pure personal hatred. It even makes less sense that the PERSONAL hatred is directed towards all these people that you people have never met in PERSON. Very ironic indeed.

  26. 26 Mark

    Mike:

Terrific job! Don’t worry–we know he’s cutting you out during his epileptic monologues, but you’re getting good at thinking on your feet (loved the 98% Vermont line in defense of Dean).

You held your own even though he’s got all the cards with his finger on the button.

    Keep up the great work,

    m

  27. 27 dave.

hannity, in addition to being the worst kind of scoundrel, is a master at steering any conversation right where he likes it.

he will create any opportunity to rattle off his litany of gingritch-esque catch-phrases like, “vicious, shrill, loony, liberal, smear, hatred, terrorist, war, howard dean, ted kennedy, bill clinton, john kerry, nancy pelosi, michael moore, hollywood”, etc.

he doesn’t even have to use the words in a sentence, just recite from the list and these words are like a glue-filled paper bag for his audience to huff. they release seratonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine in the brains of these fiends, and they keep ‘em coming back for more.

makes me wonder if being a right-wingnut really is a physiological, abnormal brain chemistry syndrome because the left wing doesn’t seem to have any similar phenomena. i mean, we all loathe delay, and bush and coulter, and call them neocon and fascist and stuff but it doesn’t seem to have such a drug fix effect on us to hear these words. when hannity says “ted kennedy”, he’s basically passing the crack pipe around to his listeners. and he knows exactly what he’s doing.

the wingnuts who react to this propaganda are the 25 to 35% who will stick by bushco no matter what he does. you simply can’t out-argue these guys and they will never change their minds as long as someone like hannity keeps feeding them these words that briefly make their pain go away.

still, it’s fascinating to observe them and it’s entertaining to poke them and watch them go. good job, mike.

  28. 28 John Williams

His tactics are pretty simple, but it’s hard to compete with him if you’re not a psychopath. He’s found his niche and he’s going to ride it into oblivion.

  29. 29 bartman

Dudes, ALL radio talkshow hosts have the power to mute the caller.

I don’t tend to call in to liberal talk shows, but EVERY time I’ve called a radio talk show, I’ve had the host mute me during the conversation. There are certainly some liberal hosts who do the same thing, because they ADMIT that they do it.

Personally, I think that when they do it yet pretend that they aren’t doing it, it’s extremely dishonest. But it’s the standard for the industry.

  30. 30 JP

I’m absolutely FED UP with Hannity using “liberal” as a bad word, he needs a serious beating.

  31. 31 Scott

Keep it up dude! Rub their nose in it! Ha! It takes balls to do what you do, and I am impressed with the knowledge and skill you maintain when they control the show…

  32. 32 MAJ McDermott

I feel dirty for having read all the posts under the thread about this guy’s call to the Hannity show.

He sounds like a 12 year old that throws a bag of flaming poo on someone’s porch and then tells all his friends about it. And, most of you, his friends, sit around and talk about how great and cool of a thing it was for him to do. When, in reality, it was small-minded and made the caller look like a fool.

I keep hearing about Hannity being a hate mongerer. That’s in the eye of the beholder, evidently. If you said that Michael Savage was a hate mongerer then I would absolutely agree. But Hannity? Please. I think you don’t like him because he’s quite effective.

Back to the point of “hate mongering” - what do you think this site is doing? All I’ve read about is how much you hate Shawn Hannity. You sound like a bunch of spoiled liberal brats. Why do you think there are no big time left wing talk radio shows? And, please, Air America? That’s the poster child for exactly why it never works. Americans don’t want to hear liberals bashing the country hours each day.

Anyway, pat yourself on the back for getting on national radio. Then punch yourself in the face for making a complete moron of yourself.

  33. 33 MAJ McDermott

Listen to yourselves - “Hannity deserves a beating”? You have devoted an entire website to “hate” conservatives because they, alledgedly, are hate mongerers, racists, etc.

It is just a tad bit hypocritical, don’t you think?

Why don’t you publish the text of your call to Hannity? Sure, people can click and hear it but words really do it justice. You’re obviously proud of what you did, so why not?

Hannity should have let you talk. You had enough rope to hang yourself. I don’t know if Delay is guilty of anything illegal or not - that’s for a judge/jury to decide, if it comes to that. But, Hannity asked you point blank, “What did Delay do wrong?” and your best answer was that Delay “is a (inaudible) Republican cockroach”. Wow, how insightful.

You had your chance, on a national stage to make a coherent statement or debate and that’s the best you could come up with? Hannity even gives you a second chance to “make your case” against Delay. Then you bring up Delay’s wife - which has nothing to do with his indictment.

Perhaps my favorite part was when he asked you who your favorite liberal was and you said “Howard Dean”. That was classic. You said you “hated the Clintons” and maybe you actually do but I suspect you didn’t want to in any way defend the Clinton’s because you know they are as dirty as it gets in politics.

When Hannity began asking you simple questions you begin stammering and instead of standing up and saying what you really, honestly believe about Republicans - you wimp out and say something like, “well, my neighbors are good people” - huh?

Obviously you listen to Hannity, if not every day, at least occasionally. Contrary to the hate-filled opinions on this blog, he actually does give liberals a chance to support or defend their point of view. Unfortunately, most do what you did, get in a quick insult and that’s it.

Come on, guy, if you ever get on the radio again, go point for point with Hannity (or another conservative talk show host) and don’t make yourself look like 12 year old kid by immediately calling someone a cockroach. Or, was that your entire goal? Just to tell your friend, “heh, heh, heh, like, dude, I was able to get on the Hannity show and call Delay a cockroach, heh, heh, heh” *think Beavis and Butthead*?

I don’t know why I’m giving you advice - it is actually much more entertaining to hear your call unfold the way it did because it makes liberals look stupid.

  34. 34 George

“I don’t know why I’m giving you advice - it is actually much more entertaining to hear your call unfold the way it did because it makes liberals look stupid.”

Actually, I think any exchange with Sean hannity makes conservatives look stupid, because the man’s soliloqui never changes. First, he sets up whomever he’s attacking as “attacking our president in a time of war, when our troops are on the front lines, blah, blah, blah.” Anyone with so much as a child’s grasp on the Constitution–which apparently many in Washington D.C. and the Bible Belt do not–knows that regardless of what’s going on in the nation and the world, every American has the right, no–the obligation, to exercise his or her freedom of speech, pro or against the administration. People who paint anyone who does so of ‘not supporting the troops, giving comfort to the enemy or sending them the wrong message, blah, blah, blah,” is a greater enemy of that Constitution than any barbarian, from a part of the world where many still wipes their asses with their hands, with a few box-cutters and explosive belts.

What I find stupidest of all is that any rational human being could honestly sit and listen to folks like Rush Limbaugh, Anne Coulter, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity or Michael Savage and not laugh his/her ass off when these people talk about “liberal attacks” or “politics of personal destruction” or “media bias” or how “conservative voices are never heard.” Give me a break…these people spew their toxic, nasty rhetoric every single day unchallenged and unchecked. They repeatedly misrepresent facts, dates and quotes and then, when caught, refuse to acknowledge or apologize. The left may not be perfect and having attended a couple of anti-war rallies I know first hand that we have our share of loons, but at least the left does not advocate handing over this country to one man based on a cult of personality, corporate greed and an out-of-control minority of Christian theocrats who would abolish our courts and our Constitution in order to implement a one party theocracy where persecution of non-Christian would eventually rival ANYTHING the Taliban, Saudi Arabia or any other Muslim theocracy had going for it. If you want to see a vision of what an entire Bible based United States would be like, just see DW Griffiths’ 1915 “Birth of a Nation.” …and don’t let any of them tell you otherwise!

  35. 35 CincyGuy

Mike, I salute you… you did your very best. To all your critics, a reminder: when Sean Hannity gets uncomfortable (and this goes for all the AM republican radio talk hosts) what they do is just SILENCE the caller’s audio, so it seems like the person isn’t even trying to respond.

After listening to Hannity rant it was obvious he had cut Mike off simply because he was intelligent and stating some very uncomfortable facts about our administration.

  36. 36 chickfu

I think what MajMcDermot fails to grasp is the fact that for the last 10 or so years, the rep. party has been monolithic so that they have one world view. Their spin doctors have carefully crafted the language to support that world view. The dem party, for all their many weaknesses, allows dissent. Not as much as they should but certainly more so than the rep party. So the statement that dems are devoid of ideas is simply not true.

As far as the hatred issue, rewind the tape a few years and listen to the tenor of the rep party. Talk about hatred, Clinton was, and still is, their favourite bete noir. It is amusing to watch a rep, when given the opportunity to bloviate, and see how long it is before they excuse the corrupt members of their party by trotting out Clinton or excuse their party’s rush to war by saying the dems voted for it too. When the rep party was truly the party of small government and personal responsibility I respected them despite rarely agreeing with them. Now they are a joke: never taking responsibility for anything and for not taxing/borrowing and spending us into oblivion. Both parties are now wholly owned subsidiaries of corporate America so we need several more parties.

Good job, Mike. You should probably avoid the ad hominem (leave that to them) but you doing a hell of a job.

  37. 37 Marie Therese

    Mike -

Good try. However, facts won’t upset these guys. They practice their schtick all day long and have refined it into a dark art.

If you do this again, might I offer a suggestion? Do not give him an answer. Answer a question with a question. Once you said the words “Howard Dean”, you gave hi the opening he needed. You’d have been better to stay with Delay’s wife and just answer every one of his questions with a question about a specific criminal act or dirty trick that Delay was responsible for. You must accept in these situations where someone has the power of the “off” button that the best you can hope for is to get real facts out to his listeners.

A clearly readable list of sounds bites thrown at him would have presented his audience with facts they’ve probably not heard before.

I’d suggest that you practice with a friend - especially one who is a good attorney. Have him/her cross-examine you then teach you the debate tricks that can undercut a bully like Hannity. Or you could contact Ellen, the Hannity monitor at our site, www.newshounds.us. She’s on to his bag of tricks and I’m sure could offer you some tips on what to expect.

In the end, unfortunately, he controls the mike and the best you can hope for is that one or two of his fans will research something you say and begin the journey towards the truth.

That said, however, I really admire your guts in taking him on and sharing it with the rest of us.

    Great points MAJ McDermott.

I have made similiar points about Mike in other posts. Mike’s response has been to block my comments frequently as of late. I have also noted numerous times Mike uses little to no sources or evidence in his posts or calls. He just rants off the top of his head, and then declares how proud he is that he was able to call Delay a ‘cockroach’ on the air. When an objective observer listens to the call between Hannity and Mike, it is clear who the better and smarter man is.

  39. 39 bacci40

    wrong again chucky….

mike went a little off the deepend, calling delay a cockroach (maggot is a much better term) but all hannity did was reuse his overused talking points.

I dont think that there really is a dem who hates delay because we lost….

People despise delay because of his tactics.

Republicans shouldnt like him either….gaining power at the expense of your parties core beliefs is not a positive thing.

To listen to delay on the stump, for him to crow about cutting spending (not real cuts) a good 5 years into the bush administration, should irk the core

And the man shouldve been indicted when he used funds for homeland security to round up dems so he could get texas redistricted.

    He is a crook

  40. 40 kln;klnsca

the one thing i wish you would have done differently (if it had been possible) is to refute the bullshit about “republicans are better on national security” the 911 commission disagrees (when they gave the bush admin. failing grades on preparedness). and besides, if they were half-way serious about security do you think katrina wouldve been such a fiasco (fema is part of the dept. of homeland security)?

this is supposed to be the only issue (besides taxes) that the republicans are strong on, and they so obviously arent strong on it. and its repeated so often, and almost never refuted. but its soo easy to refute.

  41. 41 MAJ McDermott

I thought perhaps an opposing point of view might stimulate a true debate. I was wrong.

You liberals are some real kool-aid drinkers. You despise conservatives for their “talking points” yet it seems you’ve all gotten the liberal talking points down, at least to some degree.

Hannity played Mike like a fiddle. He asked Mike direct questions and Mike had a chance, albeit a slim one, and he resorted to the personal attacks that define politics (left or right) today. Calling Delay a cockroach was Mike’s big victory. Wow, that really underwhelms me. Anyone can call someone names. Whoopity Doo!

The thing is, despite all the crying about being muted, etc, Hannity gave you a chance to make your case. He asked you directly what Delay had done that was against the law. You bring in his wife? That’s not even something that Ronnie Earl has gone after.

So, Mike gets on Hannity’s show and displays his maturity level and then comes here to tell all his friends, “Hey look at me! I called Delay a cockroach on national radio!” That sounds like a pretty pathetic life to me. But, Mike, as you get older, you will mature (hopefully). You’ll look back on this with regret. You’ll either regret that you missed out on a chance to have a debate with Hannity or you’ll regret that you were so misguided in your youth.

Heck, I bet you could even get another chance to call into Hannity’s show - he’d put you on again. Maybe this time you could provide a coherent arguement to counter Hannity’s points. I doubt you’re up to it though. Somehow, I think “cockroach” is about as good as it gets for you.

  42. 42 vitriolix

Listen to it again, you can blatantly hear sean riding the volume so that mike is literally only able to get a single sylable out.

The thing is, despite all the crying about being muted, etc, Hannity gave you a chance to make your case. He asked you directly what Delay had done that was against the law. You bring in his wife? That’s not even something that Ronnie Earl has gone after.

like mike said, this wasnt his best call ever. go back and listen to mikes archive before you start flaming and you’ll see why he is willing to admit that and post it publically for chumps like you to come and critisize.

So, Mike gets on Hannity’s show and displays his maturity level and then comes here to tell all his friends, “Hey look at me! thanks for proving that you dont have a clue what you are talking about. mike has been on hanity’s show many times and this was not his best showing. i think majorly because sean was especially rutheless with the mute button since he recognizes mikes voice by now.

Yes, Mike has been on Hannity before and has sounded at least more mature than he did in this call.

“I thought perhaps an opposing point of view might stimulate a true debate. I was wrong.”

I thought the same thing. I thought I could stimulate debate here. However, I either get cussed out or blocked by Mike. So eventually I lose my temper sometimes and start calling others here names because I get so frustrated with the lack of mature debate.

“You’ll look back on this with regret. You’ll either regret that you missed out on a chance to have a debate with Hannity or you’ll regret that you were so misguided in your youth.”

Just want to let you know, Mike is 37 years old. I guess that’s still young but Mike is not some high school student although he acts like one often.

Keep up trying to stimulate debate. Don’t get dragged down into name calling by other immature people. I will try to do the same as long as Mike does not block me.

    maj and chuck….

we libs are the “kool-aide” drinkers?

have you watched what is going on in this country, thanks to one party republican rule?

everything you alledge to despise…deficits, out of control spending, pork barrell projects, corruption in dc, etc has run amok.

You have allowed the social conservatives to take control of the party…and to its detriment….

And in spite of that…it is the social conservatives who scream and curse about being “victimized”

And your party cant even get immigration right….or did you not pay attention to the bill passed by the senate today.

btw, I heard hannity and levin pull their own mike when they called in to rag on alec baldwin….and neither sounded like mature adult males.

Sean Hannity LOVES talking about “liberal venom” while he, like almost all Wingnut radio hosts, have made a career of spewing poison and he uses his show as a bully pulpit to attack Liberals, and he clearly lined you up Mike and beat you like a drum. When he slowed down enough on his rant attacking all Liberals as being exactly what Hannity himself is (full of vitriol and hatred) you should have quickly counterattacked with any of the laundry list of issues that Republicans and their entire party of allegiance, cowed silence and corruption stand guilty of.

You are generally able to hit these people at the most opportune times but while Hannity was ranting towards the closing of that call you should have not let him get away so easy without challenging him before he hung up on you.

These people are pathological, they will attack clear thinking Americans who oppose their suicidal policies, bankrupted national debt, runaway spending and this utter debacle in Iraq because they are too cowardly to ever admit they dont get it, not now, not 5 years ago, and not ever.

I guess we can go back and forth and accuse each other of who “hates” the most. I think its sad and in a way funny. Lets not ever get into substance, lets just stick to debating who has the most venom. That’s real intelligent.

I admit that I am a slow learner. I should know by now that not many on the left is interested in a real debate. They blame everything on Bush and the conservatives. From hurricanes to the immigration debate - its all Bush’s fault.

I should know by now that nobody is going to go into any debate with an open mind. Nobody is going to change their point of view so its kinda pointless. I guess, based on the sound of Mike’s voice and his maturity level displayed on this particular call - that he (Mike) was in his early 20s. If he’s 37 then there is no growing up, maturing, etc. He is what he is for better or for worse.

I will leave you all with this quote that I saw on another website:

“Give a Liberal a thought and he’ll repeat it mindlessly all day. Teach a Liberal to think for himself and he’ll vote Republican (or Libertarian) for the rest of his life.”

People can laugh, joke, criticize, or even attack but I do think that quote is a nice summation of how things are with many liberals.

partisan politics is nothing more than cheerleading, it is mind-numbing, yet, it is strangely addictive
