Hugh Hewitt: not so much of a wanker…
Published by Mike Stark April 6th, 2006 in UncategorizedDon’t really know why I’m posting this call except to answer a question many in the fever swamps of the blogosphere have had… Did Hewitt have anything to do with getting Domenech his job at the Washington Post?
Hewitt says no.
The rest of the call is beyond my paygrade… I have a feeling the discussion was beyond Hugh’s paygrade also (in other words, my gut tells me he was talking out his ass - and I know he was factually wrong on at least one count when he said that Libby wasn’t facing charges of lying to FBI investigators).
Anyway, I wasn’t going to post this, but I don’t have much else to show for myself today, so… (I do have one laugher, but it’s not much… look for it in a few minutes…)
[UPDATE] Thanks to anonymous, in the comments, for the correction. The FBI is an investigative and enforcement body, not a prosecuting one.

Mike,
Here is your link:
http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/iln/osc/documents/libby_pr_28102005.pdf
The bottom paragraph, first page, states that Libby was charged with lying to FBI Agents. The specific statute that would fall under would be 18 U.S.C., Section 1001.
That is completely separate and distinct charge from Libby’s lies to the grand jury, which are also mentioned in the bottom paragraph, first page.
p.s., the FBI ‘investigates,’ while the U.S. Attorney’s office ‘prosecutes.’ Your posting refers to the FBI prosecuting.
Thanks. Duh. Duly noted, duly fixed.
