Calling All Wingnuts

He led off the show with a critique of the NY Times correction regarding the Fitz filing. 

This is really just a tempest in a teapot, but the issue was that Fitz entered a filing that claimed Libby was sent out to talk to Judith Miller and tell her that a *key judgment* of the NIE was that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger.

What I am afraid people do not understand is that the term *key judgment* is a technical terms specific to NIEs and some other assessment documents.  *Key Judgments* are like an executive summary list of bullet points.

So…  In elswhere in the NIE, there was info regarding uranium, Iraq and Niger.  (How it got there is another story).  Libby, Cheney, Hadley and the whole cast of motley characters certainly considered that fact to be important…  Some might even say they considered it to be *key*.

So do not let anyone bamboozle you with neocon balderdash.

The fools running defense policy for this country wanted war so bad they trotted Libby out to Judith Miller with this bs - several times.  Even she did not buy it - at least she never published it…

Anyway…

Another part of the call has to do with how that NIE came to be declassified in the first place.  This is where Sean tells me I have a perverted view of things and acts quickly to hang up on me…  I pointed out that somebody in the intelligence community must have thought that this information would harm national security if it was publicised - why else would they classify it?  But along comes a political problem for the President and he hastily decides to override the judgment of the intelligence professionals and declassify selected information to save his own butt…
