In for the long haul?

This internet organizing thing is a double edged sword.  Organizing is quick and easy, but it is impossible to keep anything on the downlow…

I’m sure Lieberman’s folks got wind of the effort.  And I know that Hannity knew we were coming.

Usually on days like today when he has no guest, Hannity will take a ton of calls.  Not today.  His show is over halfway over and so far he’s only taken about 6-7 calls.  He’s gassed the whole rest of the time.

So I finally got through after holding for over an hour.  I told him that I joined his “Hannity Insider” club and that I respected him for not using his show as one big commercial to sell his stuff (if you’ve ever listened to Bill O’reilly, you’ll know what I’m talking about).  Hannity told me that he wasn’t in business to sell anything - that he just wanted to increase his listener base.  Perfect segue.  I told him that if he was serious about increasing his audience he should keep his solemn vow and have Joe Lieberman on once a month - just like he promised.

Everything past “If you” was dumped.

The next call was from Long Beach, CA.  He got dumped also.

So…

We’ve got to keep this going for the long haul.  When we “Olbermanned” Bill O’Reilly, it was an all-week effort.  If I recall correctly, it wasn’t until Thursday that Bill snapped.

And to be clear, this isn’t about getting Sean to snap.  That’s not our goal.  We want Joe Lieberman to be a man and claim ownership of his true colors.  He made a pledge.  He can break it if he wants… that’s his perogative.  But he owes his constituents an explanation.

A man with true moral convictions wouldn’t run away from who he is.

I’ve got to go to work.  Later tonight I’ll post the audio - at least the audio that made it out onto the air.

Mike - I was trying to call in, but never got through. I was listening to his streaming audio on the net, and the minute you got on the air (I heard you say the hannity Insider comment and recognized your voice), the connection dropped. It stayed that way until after the next commercial break.

I was so pissed that I had listened to that a-hole for over and hour and missed the only part I wanted to hear! Now I’m wondering if it wasn’t a coincidence that the connection dropped at that exact time ? I know…I’m getting paranoid…

OK then… I was wondering if it was just my connection, because as soon as I got off the call, I tried to access the internet audio feed. Many internet feeds run delayed by about a minute or so. Anyway, the same thing happened to me. They dumped two calls from the feed. We’ll hafta see how it gets posted on their podcast after 6 tonight.

    I’ll update again later tonight.

sorry dude i will just have to support you in spirit. It’s hard enough listening to these guys on the short clips that the bloggers post let alone sit there through the entire show.

I heard your call. Nice try.

I couldn’t get through today, but I will keep trying this week. It amazes me that you organize all these people to pound the phone lines and YOU are the one to get through. It’s like you were born to do this or something.

    With you tomorrow. Send info.

    Variation on a theme?

What if we called Senator Lieberman’s office and recorded the phone calls? I’d like to hear their explanation of Joe’s absence from the show. (Plus there was a rumor of a Hannity fundraiser.)

What would the staff say if you called in as a Republican for Joe to thank him for:
    1) His boundless support of Bush’s war.
    2) His rolling over on Alito.
    3) His vote for the Torture Guy, Atty. Gen. Alberto Gonzales.
    4) His vote for cloture on the Bankruptcy Bill.
    5) His support of the Neo-Con, John Bolton for UN ambassador.
    6) His attendance at the National Review’s 50th anniversary Party. (that took guts!)

    you get my drift.

And the ultimate question for Liebercrats everywhere. “Who is a better American? Sean Hannity or Michael Moore?”

Held for over an hour. You rock!

You da man, Mike… hope to see you at YKos.

What’s hilarious is that it’s a perfectly innocent question. Lieberman said it on Hannity’s show and now they’re both trying to re-create reality. typical Fantasyland Republicans. Hmm, maybe I’ve coined a new phrase…

    Mike,

I was listening to Shams and I thought I recognized your voice, then - POOF - on to the next caller. Shammity really is a punk

This is a great idea. Can you post the call-in number of his show?

yah…it sucks that it’s virtually impossible to retain the element of surprise. maybe a private forum at CAW for such projects?

You’re up against the time-lapse broadcast. There’s a few good seconds between when you speak, and when it comes on the air. Plenty of time for the people in the box to filter out what they don’t like. Good luck.
