Glad to have you as a fan, Sean…

Since you are reading the site - while I’ve got your ear - why don’t you just have me on for a ten minute segment?  We’ll have a friendly discussion, we won’t talk over each other, cut the microphone or ask an irrelevant series of “yes or no” style questions…  Instead, let’s be adults and have a discussion that everyone, left and right, red, blue and purple, can learn from and enjoy…

Anyway, thanks for taking my calls.  One thing you are absolutely correct about is that you are willing to take calls from liberals.  A lot of your brethren on right-talk are much less forebearing.

Now, for the rest of y’all, on to the call…

Steve:  Oh, Sean…  I’m a Marine and I’ve got to tell you that nothing is going to change better for this country until we root out the corruption.  Wall Street Journal today says that Congressmen that sat on the Defense and the Intelligence committees were involved in a prostitution ring, so while they weren’t playing golf with Jack Abramoff at luxury golf resorts in Scotland, they were slick willying prostitutes in Washington…  Meanwhile, 5 Democrats were arrested crosstown because they were protesting Darfur because the Republican Congress and the Republican President won’t get off their butt and make this world a better place.  They are allowing a rascist genocide to go on while they’re FREQUENTING PROSTITUTES SEAN!!

Sean:  Yeah, Yeah…

Steve:  And you are standing up for them!

Sean:  Yeah…  Uh.  You’re wrong.  Goodbye.  I don’t believe a word this guy said about being a Republican.  Let me tell you what is happening.  There are these websites ladies and gentleman, and I actually read them and I am amused by them where liberals say “Now when you call talk shows” - and you can tell by the way this guy was reading - “When you call Hannity’s show, ask him where Joe Liebrman is!!  Where’s Joe Lieberman…”  you know, and things like this.  Which is fine, we want everybody to call the show.  And you’re welcome to be on, but when it’s clear you’re agenda driven and you’re not about real, honest dialogue…  we’re just gonna move on…

[UPDATE]  To be clear, I spent 4 years in the Marines.  I am a Marine in the “once a Marine, always a Marine” sense of the word.  I put in my time, I’m proud to claim the title…

Also - I left the Sean’s set-up for this call intact so you could hear one of his tactics…  I think it’s a subtle way of putting adversarial callers on the defensive right from the get-go…  Just be aware of it and be ready for it if you decide to pick up the phone.

That brat just took his ball away and went home - wimp. Thanks for saving us from an interesting, meaningful debate Sean!

A pair of those Democrats that were arrested today were from my state of Massachusetts so I’m proud. Makes up for the Red Sox embarrassment last night.

Since when is objecting to play for votes prostitution ring and a genocidal regime a partisan agenda?

    Funny world Sean lives in.

    Good job, Mike.

  3. 3 George

Why would he think you are a Republican? You said ‘Marine’, not ‘Republican’. Moron.

  4. 4 Rick Banales

Well done, Mike! Sean sounded like a total asshole, even to his base!

  5. 5 looty

“you’re agenda driven and you’re not about real, honest dialogue”

Can that guy project or what?

  6. 6 drseuss

    george… that’s exactly what i was thinking!

    wtf?

MIKE: i hope sean takes you up on your offer… i’d love to hear that

    Mike, you rock.

    Great call!
I think that your calls slowly kill his credibility. Even if his listners buy into his BS. the fact that he doesn’t play by his own rules has got to sink into their thick heads.
What does he expect to happan when people find out that you weren’t lying? I don’t know I can’t even figure out what color the sky is in that world.

Sean is such a putz. He has an agenda himself, so why would he be unwilling to talk to someone who has a different agenda. He seems to only want syncophants (sp) to call his show. Like I said, he’s a putz.

No offense, Mike, but it’s his radio show and he won’t give you 10 minutes to debate him. I work in a manufacturing plant, and the radio is on all day; I think Rush at least tries to make his show interesting but Sean is a meathead. “3 hours a day, every day” turns into the same 5 talking points, delivered in a shrill ham-handed fashion every 15 minutes, to make it more like “5 talking points, 60 times a day, every day.”

He already had this arguement this past month. Sean is NOT going to have a real debate, ever. His reasons about it being his show and his audience are actually pretty good in a pure logical vacuum; the execution and content are where it falls apart. His job is to pander to his audience by polarizing and pandering, practically stall the cross-flow of ideas, reduce disagreements into a stupid “YES or NO” dead-end, and basically read the script without revealing his lack of I.Q. The “Reagan Conservative” self-applied label is a perfect example of repeating a mantra to fill up dead air and elevate his image by affixing it to an idol most of the people admire, all with minimal effort. “What Would Reagan Do?” You might as well say I’m a “Jesus Superstar” or a “Shaq Athlete.”

I am a conservative, and I think Hannity is a moron.

“You live in the greatest country country God gave to man, the economy is thriving, were winning the war in Iraq, were going to combat Iran with or without the world, blah blah blah….”

This is what he stammers out before even taking the phone call! That should tell you something, like ANYTHING this idiot Kool Aid drinker is selling aint worth taking notice of. What planet is this guy living on anyway?

I’m sorry, but Sean Hannity should never be taken seriously. He probably has studied everything ever written on Goebels.

    What a scoundrel indeed.

mike, if he really does read your site, i think you should invite him to have an online debate (i dunno what about), seeing as format really dominates message right now.

  13. 13 liberalism is a psychotic disorder

“Meanwhile, 5 Democrats were arrested crosstown because they were protesting Darfur because the Republican Congress and the Republican President won’t get off their butt and make this world a better place.”

Hello, has anyone ever heard of Rhowanda? Or the fact that Bill Clinton and the corrupt UN ignored over 1 million people that were killed by their own people!

i guess the liberal mind is blinded with hate for Bush that they dont remember small things like that!

  14. 14 kln;klnsca

clinton remembered rwanda, he apologized and said it was one of his biggest mistakes. i think the point about darfur is especially important because it highlights the disingenuousness of the claim that the iraq invasion was primarily humanitarian, in that we were liberating the people of iraq (ie if they really cared about humanitarianism, they wouldve invaded darfur, which is an emergency situation, rather than iraq, which committed most of its humanitarian abuses ten years ago).

  15. 15 boadicea

Psycho, the thing about mistakes is it’s better to learn from them rather than repeat them.

    Especially life or death mistakes.

You should also learn to spell “Rwanda” before you lecture others on it. I’m sure you can handling cutting and pasting from your Psycho talking points…

If you can rub the hate from your own eyes, that is.

  16. 16 Brian

Mike, thanks for your efforts…humourous and biting. Yes…that’s humour with an “ou” since I’m across the border.

Disorder, Rwanda was a terrible mistake. I do have the feeling though that those with a “liberal” bent are more likey to be able to reflect and admit, “Yeah, that was a terrible fucking mistake. Let’s learn from it.” The corporatist/fundy zealots that make up the current US admin, and the new CDN admin, don’t seem capable of that. Stay the course!!!

  17. 17 nothing new

    >>Hello, has anyone ever heard of Rhowanda?>>
No, but I have heard of Rwanda.

You must be a Limbaugh fan.

  18. 18 bacci40

does heil hannity ever even listen to what he says…he introduced mike as a lib…than said, “i dont believe he was a republican”

and why is it every time we one up the wingnuts, they come on here and bring up clinton.

    it doesnt play anymore.

  19. 19 odanny

“and why is it every time we one up the wingnuts, they come on here and bring up clinton.

    it doesnt play anymore.”

Same reason Pavlov’s dog slobbered, it’s a conditioned response to FOX News. A last line of defense, it illustrates not only how desperate these people are but how empty their rhetoric is.

  20. 20 Andre R

Ha ha! That’s awesome, but don’t expect a simple entertainer like Hannity to take you up on this. He’s not a journalist or an intellectual and probably couldn’t really enter into a real, honest debate with anyone even if he wanted to. He knows one or two tricks of logic and misdirection and turns them into the news equivalent of Big Time Wrestling with lots of shouting and theatrics to distract people who don’t have time to read and think about these issues.

Still, I’m glad people like you put these bozos on the spot, if even to demonstrate that they are nothing like the image they put out there on the airwaves.
