Hannity & Eddie Vedder

When I went to the Pearl Jam concert last Friday, Eddie the new song, Army Reserve, by noting that he and the rest of the top 2% had just had their tax cuts extended.  He said that he didn’t know a lot of people in his tax bracket that had kids fighting the war in Iraq.  He thought it was a shame that the only people sacrificing anything were the families of those with loved ones in the military.

I thought it made a great point that hadn’t been heard in a while, so I picked up the gauntlet and brought it to this call.

At the end, you hear Hannity say something that is just laughably false - that military spending is a very small part of the budget.

Again, I have to say it.

Conservatives are stupid.

    Mike,
Without a doubt, you won this debate.
The douchebag had to finally hang up on you.

    Keep it up.

you did great and won the debate.
One thing— border security is a problem, in my opinion.

You stayed out of Hannitys little “Your a socialist” trap, well done.

I’ve been “researching” this guy and I think I almost have enough knowledge of his silly diversions to maybe kick you some audio soon…

Keep it up, It’s funny to hear him squirm.

I like how Sean wants you to agree with him before he considers you a valid person to debate. Maybe that’s why more Republicans goto Fox news for “debate” of issues.

National Guard belongs to the State (they do swear an oath to follow the orders of the governor) until mobilized by order by the President (may be a little off on that interpretation). Each state has the CONSTITUTIONAL right to its own well regulated militia. Utilizing these men and women for foreign actions outside of a national emergency (last I checked, Iraq was not an emergency and the battle won 3 years ago) destroys their ability to aid the State.

Border security is relevant, but should not be militerized. Nor should it concentrate on the Southern border. We have the ports that truly must be watched. Electronic walls for more efficient security should be explored. However, exploiting the national guard YET AGAIN should cease.

Yes, Sean has yet to state what he has SACRIFICED in this war on terror. Now, he can pull a Hugh Hewitt and claim he puts his life on the line daily by working in a NYC office building similar to the one attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. Still, I never see him giving FREE advertisement for Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine recruiters. Can’t he at least sacrifice that?

As for taxes, HELL YEAH. We know that 65% of FEDERAL taxes are paid by top 10% (if you discount Social Security, which you never should). Good call not falling into his Socialist trap. We don’t have to pay according to our abilities, but according to our fortunes. Many agree upto a certain point, none should be taxed. Then, that tax raises in proportion upto a certain point (50% sounds reasonable).

The federal government does not tax estates, but state and local usually do. Now, once the estate changes hands we have the estate tax which is reasonable (anything after 10 million gets taxed, but I think that that should be changed to 5 million per person awarded is tax free, encouraging the spreading of wealth).

yeah that’s his strategy as mike outlined in his calling tips. he set’s up the basis first whether it’s true or false. So you have to debate on his terms. if you don’t he shuts you off or over talks you. if all else fails, the shouting match and name calling starts. this is to belittle you and thus your points

Absolutely agree about Hannity’s tactics. How these guys claim the moral high ground and convince others is unbelievable.

What is hilarious is how they blab out exactly what they are doing, and blame the other side!

    Arrogance - Hannity embodies it.
Disrespecting America - who could be more disrespectful of our liberal heritage than modern conservatives?

Minds made up, filled with hate, filled with rage, spendthrift, weak on security, wrong on defense, decide issues based on emotion and feelings–it’s incredible how the things they paint on liberals are actually THEIR traits.

    Mike,
When I called Hannity a few months ago, I swear his voice was shaking when I hung up and listened to the end of the phone call, he was disturbed by how much I despised him. But he was also disturbed, I think, because I repeatedly accused him of making a fool of his listeners - he got them to vote for people who gave him a HUGE tax cut on his $5 million a year. I said it over and over - you make a FOOL of your listeners - you convince them to vote for a party that steals from them and gives to you and your rich buddies.

Ask him about this if you ever get a chance and a moment - it really rattles his chain.

And nice job on this call - you made him look like the dumb idiot he is - you asked him how the borders have hurt national security and dummy responded, “It has impacted our health care.” LOL!! He really is as dumb as Al Franken said he is!!!

That “Q: What’s the national security issue? / A:our healthcare” quote is particularly great. According to the conservatives, only flaming liberals believe that public healthcare is an issue of national security (i.e. needing a national healthcare program, etc.) So either Hannity is simply replying entirely out in left field, or he’s proclaiming his leftish tendencies. Either way, he’s strung up on his own mast. Keep up the great work, everyone!
