John Gibson: short and sweet
Published by Mike Stark May 18th, 2006 in John GibsonIt’s a great feeling when you get to speak for thirty seconds. This is what Tammy Bruce was afraid of.
Gibson: …now how ’bout the way Murtha is using this story - is he right to come out and say, “hey look at this story. That means I’m right - we should get out of Iraq today.”?
Me: Who better to police the Marines than somebody that spent 37 years in the Marines? I’d rather have him standing up and doing it than Bill Frist or any of the chickenhawks that never spent a day in theater.
Gibson: Alright. Alright. Mike, well uh… Point taken. Appreciate it.
(goes to break)

right on! Why is it so difficult for these wingnuts to admit that pragmatism trumps idealism in times of war?
Mike,
That was beautiful. You shut John “five shots to the noggin, and let’s have more white babies” Gibson up with one sentence.
priceless!
i assume you altered the audio? it sounds like you’re the one with the microphone and hes on the phone. just making sure.
Great call, Mike! I love it when you leave these douchebags speechless
rgw: no alteration - call was an actual recording of the telephone call instead of a recording of a radio show.
wow, you actually got him to conceede. did you really spend time in the marines? at first i thought that was just something you said to them to through them off, but you say it so much i’m curious.
John X: Nov’ 1985 - Feb ‘90 - ’tis true.
Was on JFK in 1989 when we shot down a coupla Lybian MIGs, boot camp was Paris Island, 16 months in Millington, TN, stationed at Cherry Point, NC.
Mike,
I like the idea of turning the tables audio-wise and making YOU the one on the mic instead of the host. This way we can actually hear what you say and compare it to the audio the listener hears when the wingnuts pot down your voice so they can go on a rant.
from marine to lawyer. you should definately consider politics.
very good showing at the circus. keep it up Mike .
Not to be negative or anything - hey, you did a great job! - but Gibson is some of the lower hanging fruit (no pun intended). He’s not that bright.
Hanity and this Tammy bitch are among the real toughies. They’re despicable, but they know what they’re doing. Heck, Franken interviewed Hannity and struggled with him. They do an excellent job of keeping the ball on YOUR side of the net. It’s a sales tactic that lends itself well to “debate,” if what passes for right wing radio chat can be called that. There are techniques to counter this… We’ve got to get some sales guys to chime in here and tell us how to handle it…
We went in at the same time (Nov. ‘85) and got out close to the same time, cool.
As far as Gibson, he really is not nearly as pathological as Hannity and really beating him to submission, when the facts are on your (our) side is not difficult. Hannity and Limbaugh, however, can prattle on endlessly, without you being able to respond, and in the process distrot and twist the facts, leaving anyone on the defensive from their inaccurate but effective talking points.
Again, the ability to process these distortions and rebut them quickly without these wingnuts getting you dragged OT is the key to beating them in any discussion in my opinion.
This one was easy. Good job.
