I’ve generally tried to avoid blatant whoring of popular posts, but I found out pretty quickly that you go broke fast if you don’t.
So I’ve got to beg a little here.
If you can afford to send some scratch, I’ve got the itch. I’ve got a bandwidth bill due ($510 for 3 mos.) and I’d love some help in paying it…
Soemthing I can’t (and don’t) say often enough is how cool my developers have been. I’ve tried to kick them some cash, but they’ve refused payment - instead putting every penny towards hosting fees. And if you are wondering why the fees are so high, it’s because of days like today. Every week or so, I get something that has legs around the blogosphere. When 6-8 thousand people all want to download a 3-4 meg audio clip in the same 10 hour period, well, you’ve got to have a big pipe ready and a kicking server connected to it. So there are costs…
By the way, I don’t want to single out any particular donor, but Hugh sent me a really nice handwritten letter with his donation. That was cool - who sends letters anymore? Hugh is overseas, so I’m not really sure how to reply, but I want to make sure he knows I appreciate his support.
I’ll have something more up later today…

I made a deposit to my paypal account today, it won’t be until sometime next week that the funds will be available for withdrawl. I will contribute to the bandwith bill. I hope others will contribute also. We all benefit because this site exists, and because of Mike’s efforts.

Well, that’s not the only way we benefit… y’all coming over and telling me about the Rush call was a HUGE coup that really blew up on the blogs. Every time we can laugh at the wingnuts, we get that much closer to the marginalization goal.

have you looked into godaddy.com that’s who i use and their rates are the best i’ve seen. i know i sound like a commercial. but hope that helps somewhat to lower your bills.
Sorry I can’t send anything - wish I could. But- have you considered BitTorrent as an alternative for downloads? Might save yourself some money that way.
