several people have proposed a mass call-in to Rush’s show in which you get on with Rush and then when he says, “Steve in Helena, welcome to the show.” You say, “No, Rush, this is Mike from Albany.” and then talk to him as much as you want… the point is, he would be ambushed by a bunch of Mike from Albany’s…
it’d be a comical guerrilla media stunt we could run all week. If we could slip a reference to callingallwingnuts.com in there as well, well, that’d be all to the good…
if y’all are interested, let me know - there really isn’t anything he can do to prevent it except not take calls. If I get 15 comments from 15 different people in support, we’ll launch it.
[UPDATE 6/3 @ 10:47 AM] Sorry folks, I shoulda been more clear. When I said “15 comments from 15 different people in support,” what I actually meant was 15 different people that could commit to participating. This type of thing doesn’t work well if we only get one caller through.
I should also have told you more about exactly what participation would require - it’s quite a commitment.
You’ll have to call Rush, beginning at about 12 EST, non-stop. You’ll have to keep hitting redial, possibly for hours. Once you get to the screener, you’ll have to give him a solid talking point (flip a coin to decide if the TP will be progressive or neanderthal in nature - we don’t want the liberal nature of our TP’s to give us away). If you get past the screener - if he finds you an artful speaker with something that would add value to the show, you’ll go on hold. Possibly for another hour - the ball is in Rush’s court now and you’ll have to wait for him to decide he wants to talk to you. Finally, after all of that, you’ll have a chance to say, “No, Rush - this is Mike from Albany…” at which point Rush will probably censor your remark, hang up on you and move on to the next caller.
So… for your 90 or so minutes, the net result could be zero. The reason I think wee need 15 participants is that this is a disruption tactic with a humorous slant to it. Three callers will be swatted away - it’ll take at least 8-10 over the course of a week to have any impact - for Rush’s regular listeners to even notice.
But… more importantly, what this really does is show that we are willing to go after their prize. Rush is THE point man for the Republican noise machine. He’s got 20 million listeners every week and if we can put a dent in his armor, we will have accomplished something.
Finally… there was a time when the argument that this was a ”childish prank” carried some weight with me… but… Limbaugh’s toxic mix of sugary lies and venomous bile has really hurt us. His behaviour really has earned the drug-addled fool the priviledge of being tapped as our piss-boy when the revolution comes. So I’m not gonna feel bad about a few disruptive phone calls.

I have overheard this fat bastard for years and have seen the bulk of his audience. The elderly(who this administration continues to throw shit upon, the un educated “grey faces” with their rifle racks in their pick ups and a sack of pork rinds under their arm and the haters of change.
What really sucks is this festering sore of an asshole is syndicated to over 500 stations nationwide!
He also is heard on VOA and on the Military airwaves.

Want to know something Limbaugh? If Gore had won and done everything Bush did- you’d have attacked the shit out of him, especially about 9/11! And you’d probably float conspiracy theories about him causing 9/11. Are you crazy, obsessesed, or just doing what makes you money? Whatever it is the truth means nothing to you! You’ll probably attribute my hatred of you as an “offshoot of you being famous”, but it’s more than that. It’s an offshoot of you being a famous arsehole. A couple of these calls getting through is not going to make the Rush audience suddenly change their views or even turn on Rush. If nothing else, several of these calls getting through will rally the audience around Rush even more.

We have right wing assholes with there own radio shows over here in the UK as well, (including a Bush supporting wingnut named Charlie Wolf who now refuses to take my comments on air) and the point is that for YEARS these guys have made comments and told lies and backed an agenda that has not only fucked up your country but has led to an illegal war and the death, destruction and mutilation of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq and Afganistan, nearly 3000 allied troops killed, tens of thousands injured for life, and the good will and good name of the US ruined for at least two generations. Add that to the corruption of your politicians mainly on the republican side, blatent disregard for the environment (and amazingly letting a city in AMERICA drown and somehow not get aid to it’s people for NEARLY A WEEK!!!), croynism in appointing unqualified, inefficient, partizan, crisofascist jingoistic racist xenophobes to kill off any chance of helping reduce the threat of AIDS in the third world through what has to be the dumbest of dumb ideas (abstinence education instead of contraceptive education vs teenage hormones. Yeah, that’s an even contest!!) and lastly (and by no means least, but it’s nearly 1 am over here and l need some kip) sending to the United Nations a man who was not only intergral to stopping the recount in Florida in 2001, but was also intergral in ensuring that the US did not ratify the Kyoto Agreement, as well as the whitewash of the Oil For Food investigation which somehow missed the fact that over 70 American companies (who accounted for over 50% of the revenue) were actually trading with Saddam and involved with the bribes.
A lot of this stuff is either defended or ignored by the wingnuts who have their shows on US tv and radio. That over 70% of FoxNews watchers thought that Iraq had something to do with 9/11 should have set alarm bells ringing in your country, l know that if that happened over here people would demand to know why we were being so blatently misinformed. The eyes of the world are usually watching the US and the sad thing is, a lot of those eyes used to view your country in awe and admiration. Now it’s viewed in fear and disgust. I really cannot think of anything sadder.
FDR - what will this accomplish? We are taking Rush as serious as we should. he’s a blight on the history of radio, and him losing it on the air will rally no one to him.

I love debate and arguing. Truly love it.
That is why I refuse to participate in these shows. It is so far from debate that it just does nothing but p!$$ me off.
This, however, is a noble cause and if it every got off the ground, I would definately participate.
