By request: Good German vs. Great American

One of the regulars in these parts contacted me (I can’t remember if it was through the contact form or if it was in a comment thread) and suggested that I ask Hannity if he has ever considered the similarity between “You’re a great American” and “He’s a good German”.

I hadn’t ever considered that, but once it was pointed out to me, it was kind of bone-chilling.

Unfortunately, today when I called Hannity he made the call about me rather than dealing with the question substantively. I know it’s not nice to compare people to Nazi’s, but sheesh… when the behaviour is that parallel, well, I think it’s a fair question.

Finally, weird to say it, but I think I’m beginning to suffer from a bit of Stockholm Syndrome. Even though Hannity cut the call short (the easiest thing to do when your put in a tough spot), he took my call and played ball. And he’s been taking the calls all along - unlike his other Fox News wingnut in arms…

Also - I got through to Rush Limbaugh’s screener today. It’s a new guy. I AM NOT claiming that the regular guy has been canned - I sure hope he hasn’t been… but this was undoubtedly a new screener.

I told him I wanted to talk about a website called CallingAllWingnuts.com. The screener said, “Not gonna do it…” click…

is hannity actually giving up trying to battle? seems he’d rather just let you make your point than try to debate with you or stop you.

So what if the screener got canned! He’d probably say he was “just following orders”. He can always get another job. If exposing some wingnuts’ hypocrisy costs one of his stooges a job, so what? It’s a small price to pay to get the truth out. Go, Go, GO!!

I agree that Hannity turned the call around to make it about you, but boy does he come off sounding like an ass in the process! Instead of trying to come up with an answer that makes him sound somewhat honorable (I can think of half a dozen and I’m not even on his side) he decides to just dodge the question entirely.

Yes, the comparison with Gobells and Hannity is an apt one. For starters, both were ministers of propganda. Not sure if Hannity deserves such top billing at FOX but if his is the leading voice then indeed he would be the most likely comparison.

I wonder what Hannity would have said if you had just started with the question, instead of starting with “A lot of people have been asking me to ask you…” He wouldn’t have had “you’re going to put this on your blog” to dismiss you with, so what would his response have been instead?

It’s like chess, you know? Trying to guess your opponent’s next move.
