Fun w/Ingraham

Started out by telling her I got into Ted Kennedy’s alma mater (which happens to be hers also) for law school…  moved on to talk about how the French were correct and why Bush, Rumsfeld and Condi all have to sneak into Iraq - even though the place, according to Ingraham, Hannity and Limbaugh, is positively bubbling with with good news…

maybe you shouldn’t tell them what your shtick is before you ask a question cause they will use tha against you even though it doesn’t affect validity of the question

mike you kissed her ass for a good part of that segment.what gives?

    john x,

I’ve just been a nicer guy lately I guess… I was even decent to Hannity a coupla days ago.

Besides, it seems to have worked - my tempered partisanship seemed to have disarmed her. Usually, she allows liberals baout 30-45 seconds to say what they want to say, with no follow up. She gave me a lot more time.

Laura wants us to compare how liberalism kept us safe v. how conservativism has kept us safe. Let’s do that:

Under Clinton: No major foreign war, no unnecessary and unwarranted intrusion on citizen’s privacy rights, one minor foreign terrorist attack on US soil (the World Trade Center Bombing in 1993, which for arguments’ sake I will acknowledge that it happened on Clinton’s watch), and a world view that the US was a friendly nation.

Under Bush II: Four MASSIVE foreign terrorist attacks on US soil (albeit they did all occur on the same day), two major foreign wars (with one or more pending), illegal government invasion of citizens’ privacy, and a world view that the US is a hostile nation.

I know I felt safer in the 1990’s than I have since 2001!

Well, not much there this time. I really dislike this Laura Ingasomething. Reminds me of the worst kind of Sorority girl. She has no empathy to hold her back, but also knows NOTHING about life, only snark and parties and hanging with kewl kidz.

Kind of stopped me that you were so smoozy with this cheap baggage. First time I’ve ever paused listening to your work. Probably just because she’s such a phony, and you aren’t I don’t think.

One thing she said that was a bald-faced lie for the historically ignorant (ie, most of my nation) is that comment she said about “remembering” how safe muscular conservative foreign policy has made us, compared to how liberalism left us so weak and damaged. Oh fuckin’ brother.

Uh… LIBERALISM DEFEATED FASCISM (AND COMMUNISM). America grew to first nation of the world under Liberalism. Ungrateful wench. Conservatives of the WWII era were busy admiring Mussolini and Hitler. She would have LOVED them, too, and looked so good in the uniform.

So she slipped in a major, major propaganda lie while you were being so friendly to her.

And what the FUCK is a “seminar caller” as opposed to a ThinkTank-financed media career??? Did Ingraman hatch from some egg as a partisan rhetoric-spouting wingnut on talk radio without any training? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I’ll back your arguements by noting 2 terrorists attacks under clinton (World Trade Center & Oklahoma City Bombing). BOTH (people never make this point) the perps were captured with no wars. At least 2 attacks on foreign leaders (Iraq & Bosnia). Both with mission accomplished with few US casualties. Even Haiti was aided with their Democratically elected rep in power. As far as Bush goes. You said it all.

Mike, next chance you get, ask any Republican talk-radio host to tell you in specific detail how and why the current U.S. incursion into Iraq will end any differently than the Soviet incursion into Afghanastan — 15,000 soldiers dead in 11 years — and the Israeli incursion into Lebanon — 5,500 dead in about six years.
If you get Limbaugh again, ask him for the dates, the names of the doctor or doctors, and the names of the hospital or hospitals where his back surgeries occured.
He can’t answer because there were no back surgeries, and if/when he lies it will be a simple matter to check if he was absent from the radio on the dates he specifies. Limbaugh is simply a weakling who has always enjoyed getting high, and his listeners will just have to get their simple minds around the fact that they sat around for years drinking in the faux-conservative “truth” of a guy who was ripped to the eyeballs on extremely strong prescription narcotics.
    Keep up the good work.

well, i’ve been checking on this bookmarked site almost everyday in 06. i must say, if you are trying to get in good with them for some purpose we don’t know about fine. however, if you are trying to call them to confront them on their propoganda, this strategy isn’t working too well. This chick could have and should have been torn apart. Her little photo essay on her take on the Iraq war (where she featured duck on the month) should have been enough ammo.
What i’m saying is imo 30 secs of straight to your point is worth alot more of 1:30 mins of small talk.

Where does Ingraham come off with her vodka-soaked logic about “republicans are manly and have ‘muscular’ foreign policy, while democrats are whimpy”? I know this sounds misogynistic, but I think Dr. Laura needs a good lay.

There it is. she most likely hates men who don’t treat her poorly enough, or maybe men that think her “political theories” are full of shit… that might have something to do with it.

If you listen to her, her whole political outlook is based on that hypothesis- Repubs are big and strong, while Dems aren’t so.
Never mind that the propensity towards liberalism is actually directly related to educational levels. Laura like’em big and dumb. No talk too much.

What was your second point that you forgot? If you are going to go OT and chat up your law school and keep dropping references to the Kos convention (which I think everyone has heard enough about) then maybe it would help to have some notes nearby that outline your points.

As far as that condescending, know nothing bitch Ingraham, her implication was clear: You join the military, you run the risk of getting sent somewhere to get yourself blown up or maybe killed, its part of the bargain.

You should have torn this woman to pieces but instead you two had a lovefest about UVA.

    odanny… holy cow, man… hemhorroids?

first of all, my first point was that I don’t see a lot of support amongst democrats for John Kerry - that we want a fighter that does the right thing even when it’s unpopular - like Feingold… but, while I was holding, I thought better of speaking ill of fellow dems, so I dropped it…

you cannot tear her to peices. all you can do is get some truth out there. you try getting nasty with her and she shuts you down immediately. Listen to my previous calls to her. It’s her style.

read the next post - if you haven’t already - for more.

As far as chatting up YKos - I want them to know we are coming for them. I want them to tell them every chance I get that we are coming after them.

Instead of bitching about me, why don’t you take them on? It’d be so much more productive.

    best,
    m

We need a common and harsh reply when Republicans say “Well, they volunteered for it” whenever there’s any complaint about the 15,000 causulties (I say casualties as that includes all that were injured so severely that the person cannot stay in theater).

Volunteering to serve is not volunteering to die on the whim of an administration who has no realistic plan and does not listen to his generals.

Mike, you had a great point that needed to be pushed. LAURA complained about how the media is not showing how GREAT the non-green zone Iraq has become. Yet apparently it’s not so great that the Administration must enter Iraq secretly. I recall Truman, in the “last throws” of the war, travelled BY BOAT to Europe and took part in a public meeting. Now that tells you that we’ve got a handle on the situation.

Guess we’re not at war with terrorism. Now it’s “global jihadism” now? So Christian terrorist and economic terrorists don’t count anymore? Nice to know we’re at war with a religion, that always has a good outcome.

I think it is getting better. With any luck we have broken the back of the AQ in Iraq (at least for now) and can let the Iraqis heal thier own divisions.

Bush was right to stay the course. However, if all of this proves to be true, the best thing we can do is cut and run, otherwise we can swing the whole thing the other way by our presense. (No one loves foreign occupation.)

We all know about incidents of media members being killed or injured in Iraq. Here is a Washington Post article about that discusses this issue. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/22/AR2006052201386.html

The article states: “Since the Iraq war began in March 2003, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 69 journalists have been killed while on duty, along with 26 media support workers.”

The main point of the article is that the Voice of America’s Baghdad Bureau has been closed for six months
“..The government-funded agency withdrew its only reporter in Iraq after she was fired upon in an ambush and her security guard was later killed. ..”But a federally funded information service to pull out of Baghdad for such a prolonged period raises questions about the Bush administration’s insistence that conditions there are gradually improving.

The VOA,, which broadcasts in 44 languages around the world, is designed to be journalistically independent but is required by its charter to “present the policies of the United States clearly and effectively .”

Kind of hard to achieve that requirement, if security conditions are so bad that you had to pull out your one reporter, and you haven’t been able to find another volunteer to replace her in six months.
