Ugh…

Seems y’all are gettin’ a little uppity in terms of beating me back to the confrontationalist style that marked so much of my work.

OK then, point taken.  No more schmoozing.

I will say, however, that I told Ingraham that the French were right.  I called the Bush administration out on their “Iraq is a stunning success” storyline - if so, why are they still sneaking into the country?  And I compared her to Ted Kennedy.

I don’t like her any more than y’all do, but that was three data points for her right wing freaks to think about…  If I had gone in the way I have in the past on her show - with both guns blazing - well, I’da been lucky to get past Ted Kennedy.

All that said, I heard y’all.  I’ll keep on keepin on with the straigh-up attacks.

Btw - two more calls coming.  One to Rush (later tonight - it’s gonna be another with my comments thrown in) and one to Bennett about the economy (coming sooner).

    Busy day for you!!

I heard your call to Ingraham and the one to Rush . Your voice sounded a bit different on the call to Rush, so I’m sure he didn’t recognize you. Can’t wait to hear the Bennett call, and your comments on the Rush call. :)

    Mike,
I think your “nice guy” strategy works in some cases. I know some may think it sounds like kissing up, but it allows you to get the zingers in. If you go in kicking, they pot you down anyway. You seem to have a pretty good handle on the different styles required for each host. Just do what works for you. Maybe a little more agression is fine…but with Ingraham, for instance, you have to schmooze a little or she’ll just scream you down.

    What KYGuy said.
Conversation leads to a real dialogue and allows you the chance to get your side of the story out.

Confrontation just gets your mike cut off and gets you banned by the screeners.

The only negative calls they keep on are the “rantings and ravings” call that makes little to no sense. If you go in negative and wielding a valid point, they’ll cut you off knowing they cannot keep up without research. Go in yelling “Jews control Hollywood and the Media”, “Republicans invade Iraq for Oil”, “Bush brought down the towers, not terrorists” and they’ll keep you on as you sound like a moron and make the host seem down right reasonable.

There’s logic to the statement “you attract more flies with honey than vinegar”, forgetting that manure gets it share of flies.

I’d say be nice, but careful about revealing yourself as an amateur talk-show caller. Best they think you’re a random caller and shit themselves by not having a good zinger in response. Say you’re a frequent caller and teach others how to do it, then they’ll use the ad-hominem dismissal that your points mean nothing since you do this all the time. Sean and Laura both did it to you.

I’d say that almost all these wingnuts recognize your voice by now and the screeners are likely keen to your voice as well, regardless of what name you use.

I’d say that your forte is still in the arena of exchanging information and your greatest strength is to stick to topics of discussion and not say a word about your website or Kos or anything else that detracts attention away from whatever your point is to be made. That is your strength Mike, bringing the issues up where logic and facts clearly favor your argument and the host has to jump out his/her ass to deflect and try to spin it in a favorable light.

If you keep up this routine (and do it with genuine civility and respect for the wingnuts blathering ad nauseum on how great the neocons are) then you win the battle on both fronts: That of respect for a differing viewpoint and the logic of the argument itself.

Keep up the good work, we all love listening to you.

    Mike,

You are doing great work, sorry if it seemed the Laura Ing. thing was a pile-on.

It might be the frustration of having to be nice to people who are so very nasty to us–people who can be nasty simply because they shill for the side of Authority. The idea of calling the talkies is that confrontation is what will make the bullies pause. But you have support for whatever style you decide works for you.

It’s also a Lingram thing. She is one of those who comes off as so nice and “in,” but is just waiting to see where she can cut you.
