Calling All Wingnuts

[UPDATE] Al Roney, the host of this show, wrote in with some concerns. First, Al’s is not a political show. He’s more of a comedian - I think he’s got some background in stand-up. But he is certainly not political. He had no axe to grind - I did. The context of this call was that he just didn’t understand why men are embarrassed that they might need Viagra. To him, it probably didn’t matter if it was Rush Limbaugh or Al Franken that was busted - he woulda started the same conversation. This call was editied down for brevity and to keep the call on-point.  If I had included the full call, you would have heard Al talk more about other celebrity endorsers of Viagra…  It would have been clearer that he was not a political talk show host.  Finally, he’s broadcast on the web at 810WGY.com and locally in the capital district on 810 AM from 6 to 9 PM. On the same station Rush airs, three hours later - near peak afternoon drive-time - I got another hit in. This call probably only reached 20,000 listeners or so - certainly far fewer than the millions I hit with the Rush call… but hey…

If y’all were doing this too, it’d be a real wake-up call for our somnolent media….

Please… pick up your phones in the local markets. You talk to thousands, tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands - as a neighbor. Instead of Bubba in Alabama tuning out that north-eastern liberal from New York, he’s hearing a neighbor talk to him.

Local talk is easy to call, you get more time to talk (if you want it), and still - nobody knows it’s you.

Try it. It’s part and parcel of crashing the gates and it’s something any one of us can do…
