Lieberman: In memorium

This blast from the past comes to you in memorium from the days when Lieberman was a Democrat.  As you probably know, he’s jumped ship and decided to gather petition signatures so he can run as an independent after he loses the primary to Ned Lamont.

Never mind the fact that it will be republicans signing the Lieberman petitions.  Never mind the fact that Lieberman is showing his true colors:  that he could give two shits about democracy or the democrats in Connecticut - all he cares about is his own re-election.

One more thing:  little Chucky Schumer hasn’t committed to supporting the winner of the CT Democratic primary.  I’m from NY, little Chucky is my Senator and I’m telling you that if he doesn’t do the right thing here, it’s time to say fuck Chuck and tear the whole house down.  If the Dem establishment upchucks all over the netroots like this, I’m all for a take-no-prisoners battle.  It’d be worth primarying any Democrat (including Obama) that campaigns for Lieberman if he’s running as an independent.

We did this.  The netroots did what Washington said we couldn’t do.  We identified a 18-year incumbent that got too comfortable with the trappings of power and turned his back on the people he was elected to represent.  We found a challenger and primaried the incumbent.  Now we’ve forced the incumbent out of the party.  He’s running away.  That is our victory.  As MoveOn said, we’ve paid for this party and now we’re going to take it over.

It’s time for Chucky and friends to wake up to the new school, lest they be left behind.

Call Chuck at 202-224-6542

Make sure he knows that we own him.

[UPDATE]  I stand corrected.  This is not as much of a net-roots victory, as it is a people-powered victory.  Ya know that commercial Lamont made that featured Markos from DailyKos?  Of the thirty people in the commercial, only two knew anything at all about blogs.  I think it’s important to give credit where it is due, and let me tell you something…  There has been a huge blossoming of grass-roots networks - MoveOn, DFA, Code Pink….  they’ve really congealed in recent years.  Sometimes as a blogger, I’m prone to thinking that we are the people-powered movement…  but we’re not…  we’re but a slice.  We have a lot of allies, and that is awesome!

So, can we expect Joe Lieberman to be back on the Hannity show on a monthly basis? If not why not? Will Sean public endorse Lieberman in his independent quest to stay in the Senate?

this cut is way too indepth , there are way to many angles going on here , this is pure neo.CON propaganda , dino neocon style . this is a gold cut and should be dissected fully . just my humble opinion .

I think the campaign to replace Lieberman with a real progressive is awesome. This is how democracy is supposed to work, and we often forget that. I’m tired of seeing pussy Dems on TV not standing up and calling the Repubs out. There could be a big sea of change of the establishment in Washington realises they better stand up.

your update is right on. internet and blogs are just a tool, not a substitute for the real grassroots efforts.

Either the guy is a Democrat or Republican, you can’t have it both ways and that is what done Joe in, trying to play the field so to speak. I agree that he needs replaced with a progressive stand up and take your hit guys, we have enough softees in Washington as it is now caving in to every liberty being ripped from the American people.
The Democrats have a much harder time because they have a lot of people who really “think” about the issues and have different opinions, where the “extreme right” blindly follow without question no matter where it should lead them.
The Dems have to come up with something the whole party agrees with and that will be hard the Repugs on the other hand have the extreme right and the rest of the party fall in line with that no matter if it’s right or wrong. But on replacing Joe I believe that is a good idea and would wish Lamont the best of luck.

Dem leaders that need to go and soon:

    CLINTON
    Schumer
    Biden
    Kerry
    Edwards
    Feinstein

You want to know why Dems have been losers for the past decade? That list is your answer. Daschle got his, but for the wrong reasons and to the wrong people, but there has to be some sort of filtering mechanism that can rid us of these corporatized robots.

I would say “any who voted for the Iraq war” also has to go, but that would be most Dems in congress. Not that they shouldn’t actually go, but I think most of them were just followers. If the leaders go, them maybe the followers would change course.

These guys should get more attention and praise than they ever get:

    Feingold
    Levin
    Durbin
    Boxer
    and ok, Kennedy
