Freedom Concert Update
Published by Mike Stark July 18th, 2006 in UncategorizedSo far I’ve raised $95. The goal was $150, but I can’t take donations for it and not go. One person sent $50 (thank you), another $25 (thank you) and another $20 (thank you).
Wish me luck. My great fear is that I’ll arrive and be thrown out for disagreeing with the host. That would suck.
I should be able to begin posting video over the weekend.
BTW, if you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about, the upshot is that Hannity is having a wingnut concert this Friday. Tom Delay, Ann (Adam’s Apple) Coulter, Oliver North and thousands of wingnuts should be on hand. I’m going to film them in their natural environment, and if I’m lucky, I’ll even be able to engage some of them in a little debate - on film. I’ll post to YouTube and then to this blog.
[UPDATE] I just got off the phone w/Six Flags. They don’t allow video cameras in the park. So I’m not sure if I’m going to try to sneak the camera in, or if I’ll loiter about the parking lot with it and ask the toothless to chat with me.
Either way, I’ve got a back-up plan. I’ll purchase a voice recorder and do interviews without video. Let’s hope for the best.

My favorite question “What have you sacrificed in this war on terror?” Make sure it’s something they personally sacrificed and not the usual “sent our soldiers over der” answer.

I hope that FOX security is not on hand to whisk away any “defeatists” who would dare rain on the fantasy-land parade.
If all other arguments fail you can remind them that 6000 Iraqi’s have died in May and June and that over 14,000 have died since the beginning of the year.
It’s always worth asking the under-42 crowd why they’re not on active duty.

there will be a one-word answer to your last question, sad to say:
“So?”
Maybe it’s too late to suggest it, but you could always use a video-phone (if you have one or have access to one). With the right size memory card, or using available WAP to upload, you could record wingunts all day. Not sure of the quality that you’d get recording at a concert, but it’s a suggestion.
A suggestion. If they don’t allow video cameras find out if they allow regular cameras. If so take photos and then put audio from your voice recorded with you. Not as powerful, but good non the less.
Also sometimes these jokers SELL the audio tapes at the show or right after (more money from the suckers!) so you could get some GREAT audio that way. (but they might edit out the juicy bits so don’t count of them being fair.)
You have more experience doing this on the radio than most people but this time be prepared for the people in the AUDIENCE turning on you.
You might want to watch a few videos of Hannity speaking at a college. I saw one where The AUDIENCE was ready to attack anyone who dared question Hannity. Hannity (since he knows his is good with this stuff) said “Let him speak.” So he at least didn’t allow him to be mugged. So be prepared with your audio for afterwards or during when the AUDIENCE confronts you. That will provide some EXCELLENT audio of verbal and physical threats.
Here is another tip that I always forget to do. If someone start confronting you and yelling and swearing at you in your face. Stop and ask them a question. My favorite. “Excuse me. Are you a Christian?” 80 % of them are. Being a screaming hater often times competes with their vision of themselves as a good Christian.
(Of course the right wing rapture Christians have no problem killing the infidels, it helps bring about the rapture.)
Also, prep for follow up lame answers and if you want to ask a specific question bring a piece of paper with the exact quote and date on it. The audience might not know it, but having that piece of paper will give you that “He is like my old teacher and trying to accurate” vibe for 3 seconds. I’ve observed that the only times that Rummy was busted was when someone read back the EXACT quote to him. He has learned that he can almost always win by saying, “I didn’t say that” because a paraphrase is always wrong. And he is CORRECT when he says, “I didn’t say that.” If you have the exact quote, time, date, context then they have to go another route.
You probably have heard times when people asked these radio hosts questions and did a good job busting them (like you do!). Look to those examples and emulate them. Also, consider depositioning the answer within your questions. Example, “Sean: you blank, blank blanked on July x, 2006 talking to Joe Lieberman, given that you said, Blank, how do you justify blank? And please don’t tell me that it’s blank (this is where you deposition his standard response). That’s a specious argument (fallacious argument?) and you know it. Then look for him to give a NEW bullshit answer (or deny his was full of it). Anticipate what it will be. Prepare a response to his response.
I’m probably giving advice to a guy I should be getting advice from, but I just found your site and think what you are doing is great.
Can you record videos on your cell phone?
A little more concert $ comin-at-ya. Be careful, Mike, this many wingnuts may create a dangerous situation. You may want to practice breathing from your mouth and eating boogers to not make yourself obvious. And try to make it through the entire show, you don’t want the Woodchuck Head (Hannity) to accuse you of “cutting and running”.

I was checking out the photo policy on their website and (I’m not a lawyer) but they might be able to whack you if you post pictures taken in the park without their permission. It seems it wouldn’t matter whether you sneak the camera in or use a cell phone or whatever. It’s not the taking of the picture that’s restricted, it’s the publishing in any media that they restrict. Before everyone jumps in with “hey that’s ridiculous…everybody takes pics of their kids at the park, etc”…I know, I know…I hear you…but they DO have the policy and, depending on their political persuasion they might just selectively enforce it agressively against you. Plus, the concert is copyrighted so pics wouldn’t be allowed there at all. Why don’t you just stick with audio? Keep fighting radio with radio. Good luck.
Just one more thought, they’ll probably try to keep you from doing audio, too. But, their restrictions don’t specifically mention audio or “publishing” the audio.
I say, take the risk, its worth it to expose these neocons and their HATEFEST 2006……….I have no doubt you will find legal support in case somebody goes after you…..will be interested to see what you accomplish, but don’t give up, and next you should camp out in NYC with the Fox $ Friends crew and harras Douche Bag, Killme and E.D. Shrill…..take care…..Id finance the whole trip for you if you could work that one….I hate those parasites with a passion.
Maybe take the video and dont publish it. It can always be used to bolster ones future argument, either way it is the usng of their own ridiculous arguments that is most effective among this concert, which I am very curious to see if this is genuinely intended to be a support rally for troops or a platform to spew venom?
Either way, I’d say take whatever you can and distribute at your own risk. And just hold the video until you know its legal to post in small parts.

Sean Insanity boasts that EVERY dollar goes to the kids of the slain troops. If this is not a fact, then someone with some horsepower needs to expose it. However, no matter what they call it ( Freedom Concert ), it’s still nothing more than the Hannity Hate Fest, where right wing scum like Coulter, Levin, North and the rest can spew their venom toward anyone they disagree with.
