Gingrich: Deny Deny Deny…

You’ve got one chance to ask one question of one of the most sanctimonious hypocrites ever to serve in Washington.  He’s on at least his third wife, after cheating on the first two.

Oh good god, man…

I’ll find the link later and edit this post.  But this man is absolutely disgusting.  I can’t believe people talk seriously about him running for president.

And today he’s talking about WWIII in order to improve Republican chances in November.  It’s unreal how morally vapid this pig is.

So this was my question - Alan protected his guest (truth be told, he’s got to) - but the whole question, heard without interruption was, “Is it true that after cheating on your first wife you served her divorce papers while she was in the hospital receiving cancer treatment?  Why the hell should anyone listen to your opinion on moral issues?”

Because going to war is the biggest moral issue of them all.

BTW - Gingrich denied it, saying that “bloggers” like to repeat things that aren’t true.

I guess that’s the new Republican tactic when dealing with people that know the truth about them:  call them unreliable bloggers.  Oh yeah, and then lie.  A lot.

Wasn’t he cheating on his second wife, with the woman who became his 3rd wife, while at the same time being Speaker of the House during the Clinton impeachment?

It seems to be a serious problem in all his relationships. Perhaps it goes back to high school, where he was going out with his math teacher, before she eventually became wife number one.

I wonder if the right wing talkers will label Newt as a serial adulterer?

  3. 3 John from Seattle

Hell ya Mike! Great call! Way to nail that sonofabitch!

  4. 4 BrianD

    Mad props, Mike.

  5. 5 Frank

Actually I don’t think you handled this call well. You came off spittin’ fire, instead of just confronting him truth to power.

My armchair quarterback perspective is, you should have mentioned how he speak long and large about morality and promotes his party as a workin’ man’s salvation, but how is it that his voting record was hardly ever supportive of the middle class (examples a, b, c), and his own private life could by so many measures be judged immoral - and here’s where you hit him with the divorcing wife on the deathbed thing!!! And don’t rush through it. Ask him matter of factly…

Anyway, I realize all this is easy for me to critique. I’ve got to call into one of these wingnuts myself…

  6. 6 AlexinCanada

If the media is at all consistent they will go after Gingrich as his Presidential campaign unfolds. The media could not get enough of Clinton’s extramarital affairs so why does the same thing not apply to Newt???

btw Frank, i’ve heard many of mike’s calls to hannity’s show where he tried that same tactic you are talking about. it doesn’t work for hannity cause he doesn’t let you setup your questions in your court. he reverses it and if he can’t he cuts you off. this was the best tactic so far on his show.

  8. 8 c.d.

you like ww3 , we got your ww3 right here , nice work .

  9. 9 Frank

Yeah, none of ‘em fight fair, but Hannity cheats…

I agree John, with respect to Hannity. But while the tactic would be appropriate for Hannity, Kilmeade, etc., Colmes would let folks like us get a word in edge-wise.

To AlexinCanada: Clinton lied under oath as President of the USA, to protect himself from a flurry of adulterous allegations which stemmed from Paula Jones’s lawsuit and then improperly coerced Monica with prepared remarks and a new job in the government to stay on her good side, where she met Linda Tripp. Presidents can’t do that. High crimes and misdemeanors. Perjury, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering are each impeachable offenses. (see end)

While Newt Gingrich may be a lecherous cad, his situation was different. Disgusting, but different. He and Hillary would be a shit-fest of a race. The media could go after him if he runs for President, but there’s only so many times you can run that story and many more stories with Her Highness. At least that’s what Rove tells me.

Mike: Yeah, I’ve heard this about Newt too. If it’s true, it’s despicable. At the same time, your call was made to attack Newt and didn’t add to the debate. If you want to be taken seriously, stop being a blatant smear artist and engage the message.

You people need to realize that emotional satisfaction isn’t synonymous with victory. If you want to argue principles, be principled. If you just want to get a cheap jab in so you can giggle with your friends on your website, attack. You’re only preaching to the choir with character assassination and not converting anyone worthwhile. What, you want to mimic Ham Spammity?

Be that as it may, if you feel it is worth it to lunge at ol’ Newt, you must not have had any ideas on how to counter his viewpoints in context, eh? The man’s obviously smart, if maybe dishonest, and would be hard to debate substitively. He’s a history Professor (or was) and a fairly successful author. If they’re technical, go crude. If they’re crude, go technical. I can’t wait for November…the Republicans have some nifty surprises in store for you kids. The vast right-wing conspiracy never sleeps. (psst, here’s a hint: get Howard Dean to wear one of those Palestinian scarfs again -> http://www.danegerus.com/weblog/Comments.asp?svComment=5413 )

At this point, with the current violence, and people like Ned Lamont (former Republican voter and contributor) on your ticket, I can’t support any Dems. I wish you guys had a positive message that was reasonable and responsible. It would be so much better for the country to have strong opposing parties that put up their intellectual leaders for office, not the weak clowns raping the populace up there now. It’s so easy to counter Pelosi and Reid it’s pathetic. You lose, try again. It’s too late now, but you damn well better get a REAL AGENDA for 08. Do you want a league of useful idiots or a phalanx of scholars? “Yes!!! We got the ignorant vote!! Another special group of victims!! Just please don’t discuss policy with them. They are knowledge challenged.”

Keep it up Mike. You are getting a little too bitter with the on-air guys and it’s sloppy; save that for the web & choir. Sharpen the skills; you’re going to be a formidable opponent soon. Then, you can go to YearlyKos and really teach the herd. The better you are at countering people like Hannity, the better they get at debating, and the less torture I have to endure at work every day, 3 whiny and vapid hours a day. At least, that’s the theory.
    ===========================================================
    (Now the promised end)

Clinton did what Nixon only dreamed about. Ever heard of political IRS audits, Travelgate, Craig Livingstone’s 900 FBI files on political enemies, removing files from Vince Foster’s office after hearing of his suicide before investigators got there, selling “coffee’s” and the Lincoln bedroom for campaign donations and thus illegally raising money in a federal building, and accepting donations from an Indian tribe to reverse a casino ruling while accepting donations from the tribe who was originally approved and thus accepting bribes for policy decisions? (Quid pro quo) Each impeachable. We haven’t even talked about China and Saudi Arabia and bin Laden yet…

You’re welcome. Now that’s what we call “the most ethical administration in history.” The Clintons were just as ethical in Arkansas. Newt or anyone else doesn’t come close. Maybe Ted Kennedy or Robert Byrd, but still…these are not the type of people you want to exalt too much.

mad mad props for that call. finally someone can nail the son of a bitch

    Iriseon,
Bill Clinton has been out of office for years now, it’s time to move on. Trust me, you’ll be tired of the Lefties continueing to mash Bush when he’s out of office for 5 years. Yeah, Clinton’s a dirtball, any reasonable person wouldn’t want their daughter dating a man like him, but Bush’s dishonesty has been far more damaging to the country than ANYTHING Bill dared. By this, I mean cherry picking information to justify to enough people that we should have this ridiculous war in Iraq.
You mentioned you will not be voting for any Dems. Iriseon, I don’t know you, yet I’m confident you’re one of those ideological nuts that vote on elections like you cheer for your favorite sports teams- No matter what happens, how unsavorable the characters on your team/party are you will continue to pull for them. It’s a sick mentality that efflicts both the left and right.
In regards to your attack on Mike- sure his website is saved for the “choir”. It’s a good source for people wanting to know how to effectively talk to your beloved right wing radio hosts. But do you know when he’s not speaking to the choir? Think hard, I bet you do- it’s when he has his voice broadcast to millions of people when he gets on the air with these nuts. Newt is a scum and people should be made aware of it. Because of this phone call many people now know more about the man who likes to position himself as morally superior to the Dems.
Before you begin to label me as a left wing nut job let me share with you my voting record since I was of legal age to vote:
    1992: Bush
    1996: Clinton
2000: Bush (I’m still kicking myself, especially since I live in the swing state of FLA.)
    2004: Kerry

And I will support Chuck Hagel (R) if he decides to run in ‘08.

Ok, back to work for me.

Here’s a canned script for any conversation between an Independent Thinker (IT) and a right wingnut (e.g., “iriseon”) when Bush lies, violates the law, gropes a German, ignores the fact that the nation is under attack, let’s oil companies dictate energy policies, etc, etc, etc,:

    IT: Bush did “X”
    iriseon: Clinton did “Y”!

IT: Yes, Clinton did “Y”, but that doesn’t change that fact that Bush did “X”…

    iriseon: Clinton Clinton Clinton!!

IT: We’re talking about Bush, Clinton wasn’t perfect, but that’s not who we are talking about…

iriseon: Clinton, Hillary, Foster, Democrats! Clinton ! Clinton ! Clinton ! Lamont !! [Note: Lamont is a new addition to the script, apparently prompted by Hannity…lmao!]

IT: *sigh*…[walks away while iriseon is rambling incoherently, spewing one lie after another, without ever addressing what Bush did]

    To Ireson:

    Please buddy.

How come you rightwing nuts never seem to be able to focus on the bottom line… Since the GOP took over from Clinton in 2000 ever wonder what happened to the economy…

The answer comes from the economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez, whose long-term estimates of income equality have become the gold standard for research on this topic, and who have recently updated their estimates to include 2004. They show that even if you exclude capital gains from a rising stock market, in 2004 the real income of the richest 1 percent of Americans surged by almost 12.5 percent. Meanwhile, the average real income of the bottom 99 percent of the population rose only 1.5 percent. In other words, a relative handful of people received most of the benefits of growth.
There are a couple of additional revelations in the 2004 data. One is that growth didn’t just bypass the poor and the lower middle class, it bypassed the upper middle class too. Even people at the 95th percentile of the income distribution — that is, people richer than 19 out of 20 Americans — gained only modestly. The big increases went only to people who were already in the economic stratosphere.

How come you wingers take your marching orders from the half baked lies of the uber-rich like Hannity and O’Reilly. Don’t you guys realize you are being PLAYED by
these guys. What is principled about bankrupting the country and handing out pork to the rich.

Yet Clinton is evil because he lied in a trumped up lawsuit funded by his rightwing enemies. Vince Foster, Travelgate… nothing was ever proved… why you ask? Because it was based on GOP lies…

Too bad all that energy on the right is not put into doing what is right rather than what makes your gut feel good.

  15. 15 Frank

Iriseon, you’re a nut. I’m surprised you don’t have your own radio show. You certainly know the format well - it’s obvious you got all that bloviating Clinton bunk from Limbaugh/Hannity/Beck. At least Mike will never be able to assassinate your character - you have no character to begin with.

Let’s make this easy. If you’re a Republican, you should - no - must, GO TO IRAQ. If you believe that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are honest men, that killing >100,000 civilians is necessary for democracy, and that they are fulfililng their oath to protect the US constitution, the best way for you to express your sincerity is to GO TO IRAQ.

    It really is that simple.

    Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

  16. 16 Jack Anusoff

    HA HA !

He said bloggers. Now anyone who’s interested in Newt, a prospectie voter perhaps, will go online and look all this stuff up. And find out that it’s true. Will they still support Newt? Against Hillary they will.

  17. 17 Jack Anusoff

Godamn Howard Dean pisses me off repeatedly. Wearing a keffieh? Damn, that means that Dean is as dumb or dumber than Ricky Martin.

And people need to get off Clinton. It took Jay Leno 3 years. If one president (Bush) is the worst president ever (period) then comparing him to any other president isn’t going to work. Clinton, IMO, was a Republican (from 1964). If the economy and the budget weren’t so great under him, I would have totally disliked his pandering, triangulating ass. I can’t stand to listen to him now. I can’t stand his republican in drag wife. But, let it be said, that nothing compares to Bush. Bringing up things that Clinton did only reminds people about how it used to be, how different this country was.

And if anyone needs to “realize that emotional satisfaction isn’t synonymous with victory” it’s the damned right wing nuts. Nowadays called Republicans.

Fat Newt goes no where….god knows from where he plucked the chutzpah to “come back” as much as he has…but too many peoples have got too many “goodies” on Little Fat Newt…you know, peoples like Larry Flynt and such…so I’ve hoid….
