Published by Mike Stark July 21st, 2006 in UncategorizedSo I went to the “Freedom Concert” and got kicked out. Remember Andrew Wilkow? The guy that was too coward to answer a simple question about blastula and life? You remember, burning fertility clinic?
Well anyway, he was there. He spotted me in the media section (I was approved for media credentials) and sicced his thugs on me.
The story is a lot longer, and I’ll have a lot more for you tomorrow, but I was laughing out loud as I walked towards the gate.
Two reasons:
- These guys always shoot themselves in the foot. How is it going to look when word gets around media circles that at an event meant to honor veterans and billed the “Freedom Concert”, one of their minions decided to eject a four year Marine Corps veteran because they didn’t like the way he used free speech? Just to be clear, I hadn’t said much of anything when they kicked me out. They didn’t kick me out because I was disruptive or disorderly. To the contrary, all I had done up to then was observe. No, they kicked me out because I was Mike Stark. And Andrew Wilkow no likey Mike Stark. That’s it. I was acting as independent media - observing and recording. That’s all. I was properly credentialed. Under my own name.
- The second reason I was chuckling as I left is that these folks will never be able to keep up with us. I was booted. But I wasn’t the one with the video camera. I had actually received two sets of credentials. One of them went to a partner I brought with me to be the videographer while I did interviews and worked as a “spotter”. Andrew Wilkow didn’t recognize my partner, so he spent the day filming. We have lots of video of white people that, in a perfect world, would be fighting in Iraq. And we have lots of stupidity! Lots!
I’ll begin posting, hopefully, on Sunday. I might even be able to get a few stills up tomorrow. ’til then…

those assholes
Typical… so much for freedom of the press…
Sorry to hear you got kicked out. Typical wingnut cowards.
Anyway, looking forward to the videos/photos.
Keep up the good work!
Send him a bill for your tickets. Demand a refund! Sounds like you’ve hit it big time, with people recognizing you and all. It means they have done their research.
We should get this in the New York Times and/or Washington Post and embarrass the hell out of Hannity. So much for his run-up to the concert where he says, “this is the one day that everyone should put their politics aside for the good of the children of our troops who were killed”.
And of course Wilkow, who made a big deal out of Hillary Clinton running for a second Senate term…stating she is using this (and New York State) as a springboard to the presidency. Of course he sees nothing wrong with using WGY and Albany as a springboard to a national talk show.
Oh, I cannot WAIT to see the pics and video. good work.
Dear Mike:
EXCELLENT plan with the videographer and spotter! The importance of getting video and other evidence of the questions asked (or not allowed to be asked) and the actions against the people trying to ask questions, is of critical importance. Especially since that will provide further evidence of their thuggish actions.
I wish that we could have had video tape of the “secret service agent” in Denver who spotting people with anti-war bumperstickers on their car who then didn’t allow them into a Bush event. He was a Bush campaign staffer and he impersonated a Secret Service agent illegally. It would have great to see that on video or at least listen to the lines used to remove people with properly obtained tickets to a Bush hand picked “townhall” meeting.
What is great is that now you have the video footage! Hopefully there will be some footage like the scene in the Graduate where Elaine sees the hate in her parent’s faces and realizes who they really are. Or maybe you have some footage like the scene in “The Dead Zone” where the presidential candidate holds up a baby to use as a human shield to protect his own life. Because that is what these people are doing, promoting war and using our troops to do their dirty work for them while they sit home watching it on ‘the tv screens’.
From such images a reputation and brand is destroyed.
I look forward to the footage! And GREAT work to you and especially to your video person and spotter!

I heard about 5 mins of this thing yesterday. Six Flags NJ? Coulda been Nueremberg ‘38.
So, all those soldiers died , so Andrew Wilkow would have the freedom to have Mike Stark ejected from the “Freedom” concert.
Sad!
Right Wing Conservative Dictionary
Freedom(n) - The right to say and do things that only conservatives approve of.
Great that you got some video footage with interviews! Can’t wait!
And Mike, how did Wilkow know it was you? Has he seen you before or did he just make an assupmtion?
Can’t wait for the video!
looking forward to the video!
Youtube & DKos would be a good mix for the videos . cant wait , good work .
Wilkow, of all people! This guy truly believes he:
a) actually matters, and
b) is the next Hannity, whom he worships.
He is probably the biggest coward in a sea of cowards; he is also one of the most stupid air-hosts the Right Wing Scream Machine/ClearChannel/Fox has foisted on the public airwaves.
We were subjected to his moronic rants for too long on WGY…now the country will be have to listen to his stupidity.
Clearly, being well-informed and intelligent is not a criteria for Right Wing radio…merely having a blind hatred for anything center-left qualifies you for a high-paid platform to spew your stupid venom. Oh, and it’s a great place to hide from the Army.
Cowards, morons and phonies…such is the state of the so-called “Freedom Concert”. Go get ‘em, Mike!!!!
I actually called in to Andrew Wilkow on WABC early Saturday nights approximately 4 times over the course of a couple of years ago.
The man is just stupid. My arse kicking was so decisive that after destroying him on point after point and throwing his own statements back at him (He didn’t even realize what he was saying 2-5 minutes ago) he actually once sighed on the air that he had enough and couldn’t handle it anymore.
The rest of the show was basically a few callers trying to rehabilitate him after Big Dave From Queens thumped his low IQ arse.
We ex veterans need to stand united, I wonder if I too would have been booted cause I dont support the Busheviks? There are many ex veterans who perfectly understand the failings of Dick Cheney and Donnie Rumsfeld and all the plotters of our current strategy to increase terrorism worldwide.
All this bullshit about “supporting the troops” is a load, its a concert to support the government, the troops were a cover for a neoconservative orgy to music.
Hey Big Dave from Queens. Did you record it?
If you don’t have it yet, check out Total Recorder from High Criteria. http://www.highcriteria.com/
The regular version is like 18 bucks and the Pro version 40. It is a great tool to record radio audio off a stream or with a mic attached to your computer.
You can program it to turn itself on, boot up your browser and record the show while you are away. It’s like a VCR or DVR for radio. You can also record and translate the program to various formats for play back. Such as wma or mp3.
It also has an auto naming feature so that you can make dated archives of shows. All it all a very handy tool for PC users.
/BTW, don’t work for the company or nuthin’ just a fan of the product.
way to go mike… can’t wait for the content… too bad you had to wait in the car
Anyone that has his picture follow you around a webpage is kinda creepy.
With luck your videos will crush his massive ego.
Wow…so you got booted out of an event that you got media credentials for. Haven’t seen it on the media yet. Wonder why?
Let me ask all you first year law students a question - does “freedom of speech” apply at a paid event on private property?
Sure, the video and stills might be highly entertaining. But can we be sure that they weren’t done at a Stark family gathering?
Honestly. You know that these guys have someone monitoring your site. Why telegraph every move? What on earth did you expect? Once you pay your admission, you waive your right to the First Amendment. Oh, I’m sorry…you had a MEDIA CREDENTIAL. Last I heard, those were revocable at the discretion of the issuer. Oh, BTW…since you had TWO media credentials, what did you do with the money you solicited here? Media doesn’t pay admission…and Albany aint’ that far from NJ….
Do you have the guts not to pull this?
Frank: You’re a dick.
Run a mapquest from Albany to NJ stopping through Brooklyn to pick up my video partner. It was ~200 miles. Round trip, at least 350. 20 miles/gallon (or less since it was stop and go traffic through much of the city and the Jersey Turnpike) = 17 gallons of gas. At $3.30/gallon (my car takes premium) I spent about $50 on gas. Another $30 or so in tolls - $9 for the Verazzano, $4 for the Tappanzee, $6 for the bridge from the turnpike to Staten Island, $4.80 each way on the thruway and about $3 or so for the turnpike.
I bought my video guy lunch (I won’t count what I paid for my own food). That was another $8.
The ticket that I purchased before I found out that I wouldn’t be able to bring my video camera in the park as a general admission was $66 with shipping and handling. I didn’t ask for a refund when I got the media pass.
There may have been other expenses I didn’t account for. There was certainly my food and coffees, but I’m purposely not counting those.
I raised a total of $115 for the trip - two $10 contributions came in after I told y’all that I had rec’d $95.
But… you’re keeping me honest. When I got thrown out of the park, I spoke to management and made them refund my credit card the price of the ticket.
So after spending the entire day away from my wife and infant - and after spending half a day waiting in my car for my partner to come out of the park, I’m “up” about $25. Ya wanna trade places, you stupid fuck? and oh yeah - I still have to learn how to get the friggin video from my camera to my computer. And you’ll be able to tell it wasn’t my family picnic by the shots of Hannity and Coulter.
Listen, the truth is that in the six months I’ve been running this site, I’ve harvested about $2,000 in contributions. I’ve turned around and paid about $1,000 for hosting fees, spent about $600 on software, cable internet, phone bills and equipment. The remainder went to pay a gargantuan cell phone bill I had run up calling talk radio before I launched this site. I’ve profited not a fucking dime.
Oh… and I’ve given about 1,000 hours or more to the running of this site.
As far as Freedom of Speech applying on private property… no you fucking dim bulb, it does not. But when an organization purports to celebrate veterans and freedom, you’d think they’d leave the gestapo tactics at the fucking door. Stop running with scissors, don’t sniff any more glue and recognize hypocrisy… it wasn’t that subtle…. really it was more like a steamroller squashing a marshmellow…
And as far as me ripping off my readers… go fuck yourself… you’re banned.
Mike,
Regarding your response to frank the “pussy”cat.
I couldnt have said better myself.
Tachnically, Frank has some legitimate points, but IT’S CALLED THE “FREEDOM CONCERT”, DUMMY!!! Do any of these people who are always braying about “freedom” endorse revoking a media credential simply because the issuer disagrees with the reporter’s intent? How does that reconcile with those Constitutional freedoms (i.e Freedom of the Press) that they claim to love so much? Metallica said it best: “You can do it your own way, if it’s done just how I say”.
Hey Frank–why the fuck do you care?
What principle are you standing up for here, except abject allegiance to a bunch of people who couldn’t give a damn about you, and clueless hatred toward people who are probably on your side if you thought about it for a second?
Mike,
Don’t stoop to Frank’s level (or Wilkow’s level for that matter). Un-ban him and give him the freedom to display his idiocy further. Then you can have the freedom to further shoot him down. lol
way to go mike.
the chickenhawks like hannity make me sick. they say they love freedom so much, yet when they have their chance to defend it by serving they’re “too busy doing other things”.
I’ve heard hannity say he was “too young” for vietnam. seems to me he could’ve served in beruit, panama, gulf war, kosovo, etc…
keep up the good work!!
Mike, whatever youve got….youve GOT TO GET IT TO OLBERMANN SO HE CAN USE IT ON HIS PROGRAM…..GUARANTEED TO BE A RATINGS SUCCESS, ESPECIALLY IF IT DEALS WITH ALL HIS WORST PERSON CANDIDATES…..this is a no-brainer….take care……………..
Oooh…the Olbermann idea is PERFECT.
I reside in an area that is strongly “pro military” hence conservitive. These folks cheerfully go against their interest to support the neo con agenda. Thank you for your efforts to confront the hypocracy and simple minded idea put forth by the reich. The confrontation that you offer to these ideas is indeed welcome and refreshing. By the way, I thought the venue was being held in as a public event, with an invitation extended to the public. It would follow that you would be welcome. They could refute your position with the overwhelming logic of their position.
Just wondering how you were able to obtain media credentials from these wingnuts?
i got creds by asking for them. went to Freedom Alliance, the hosts of the show, asked them for creds, they put me in touch with Public Relations for Six Flags and I got credited.
but markovits, or whoever you are… I’m trying to figure out why you’d use the terms “wingnut”. I know you are a troll, so why pretend to be otherwise?
That is something I never did. I never lied about who I was. If Freedom Alliance had googled my name, they may not have credited me. I would have had to have gone with a voice recorder and left the camera at home. I would have done without media creds and reported from the crowd.
Again, Mike, how’d they know it was you? Have you met Wilkow or Hannity before, and then they bitched to security?
All will be explained in my next post. Hopefully that’ll happen tonight. I’ve got some video editing to do - I finally got it downloaded to my computer.
It’s been a helluva lot of learning in a very short time.
Does Fox Security have a file on you?
Good going Mike. It must make the interlopers spying for Hannity and Wilkow and all the other lapdogs and toadies for all things Bush red with anger to see you expose their carefully constructed facade.
Also, lets consider for a minute them throwing you out. Out of however many Neanderthals actually showed up for this concert to listen to Hannity and Coulter, how many “demonstrators” or those not supporting these wingnuts would have been there? Any? So to throw one person out who was not a Kool Aid drinker shows what a bunch of pussies these chickenhawks are in the first place.
Hannity just came on and claimed you had “fake credentials”. Hmmm, another lie, Sean?
In all fairness, there were probably a fair number of people who were coming back from/going to OIF, OEF, HoA and other garden spots at the Freedom Concert.
Wow….banned! You’re becoming just like the talkshow hosts - banning anybody who questions them. I love watching you move to the DARK SIDE. Oh, and forgive me - I didn’t mean to imply you’re ripping off your readers. I meant to imply that you have a terrible business plan. If you can’t make this blog at least pay for itself, than you’re not nearly as smart as I initially gave you credit for.
Call me a skeptic, but anytime someone sticks thier hand out for “a worthy cause” my antenna goes up. Now I’m also curious about your military service. I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned where or when you served, or what you did. Not that it matters, but I’d really love to see a picture of you in uniform. You bash Kilmeade about it enough - put up or shut up.
And please don’t whine about how much time and cash you spend on this little enterprise. You wanna do it, do it. You wanna pay for it, make some sacrifices, do some legwork, and make it work for YOU instead of depending on handouts. Cellphone bills?
Plain stupid.
Perhaps if you’re so bad off, I can sign you up for some online coupons to your local grocery store….
You all miss the boat when it comes to First Amendment rights.
They are not just yours - they are everyones’. Mr. Starks’s “press credentials” were issued by Six Flags. Six Flags is a private entity. The Constitution restricts the actions of the government - not private persons or private entities. Six Flags is within their own First Amendment right to freedom of assembly (and its U.S. Supreme Court defined corollary “freedom of association”) to issue, refuse, or revoke “press credentials” because they are within their rights to permit, refuse or revoke entry to their private property to anyone.
Mr. Stark was not ejected from Six Flags by the government, i.e. the police officers depicted in his illegal video. He was ejected by Six Flags. Just as he could be lawfully ejected from your house if he broke one of your rules which defines conduct which you consider permissible in your home.
According to what I’m reading, you people believe that you have a Constitutionally protected right to enter my house after my invitation, and piss on my living room couch without any consequences whatsoever if you have “press credentials”. You are sadly mistaken. I can still ask you to leave. And if you refuse, you commit the criminal offense of trespassing in every state in this country, (and most countries on the planet).
My house, my rules. My First Amendment right.
Mike,
You’re as evil as they come. It’s time to recognize the fact that you’re serving your own causes and no others. Get out of the way.
