[UPDATE] I may put up some more video at some point, but there won’t be much more. We’ve pretty much highlighted the story. After all, I was there less than an hour before Hannity had me thrown out.
Oh, I’ve got more video of Coulter’s hairy face… I’ve got some of Private Wilkow sucking Hannity’s ass… But for the most part, this was the story. I get in… I’m spotted… They call the cops on me… The cops go into overkill mode to slay the liberal.
Some of the story you didn’t see because I was seperated from Evan when it occurred:
Immediately after being ejected from the park, I went to Guest Relations in order to complain. I just couldn’t believe park security booted me without me having done anything wrong… So I’m telling the story to the manager through a window, and there are about 10 people standing around listening, transfixed. The guy at the window on my left excused himself - he was talking to a customer service rep - turned to me and said, with a heavy accent, that I should hire a lawyer… that what was happening to me was wrong. I thanked him for empathizing with me and he went ack to his business. About two minutes later, I heard him say something along the lines of “I can’t wait to see my favorite song.” And then he started singing Lee Greenwood’s, “Proud to be an American”. That was uplifting.
About two minutes after that, a lady on my right said pretty much the same thing - that she couldn’t believe this was happening in America.
Ya know, I totally did not expect that. I don’t know why - maybe it’s the browbeating we liberals get by the media every day, but I’m used to fighting an uphill battle. (Oh - it just occurred to me that I listen to right-wing radio every day - maybe that’s the reason I feel like I’m in the minority). Anyway, receiving support from the crowd around me really felt good.
Priceless! The look on Ann Coulter’s face as she realizes she’s actually talking to a lib-ruhl was absolutely hilarious. She actually went more “pale” than she already is, before she “cut and run” to the safety of the crowd. Great work, Mike.

Freedom is not free….yeah right…apparently it comes at the cost of a select comfort bed, four gallons of jointritis…Oh, and you can buy some at 1-800-FLOWERS…Click the microphone in the corner and type S-E-A-N. Those sheep were not there to thank or celebrate the troops, they were there to be spoonfed their hate from guys like Sean and Ann….And they got the supersized bowl that day. Shame on them. “Supporting your troops” isn’t slapping a magnetic sticker on the rear hatch of your SUV….It isn’t attending a Sean Hannity Hate Fest…it is witnessed more appropriately in petitioning our representative form of Government to hold the civilian leaders accountable for their decisions BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER they send our troops into harm’s way. What I see at this “Freedom” concert is nothing but a bunch of jingoistic pricks waving the flag with absolutely no understanding of what exactly that flag stands for.
Just as I always suspected it takes you almost a week to get it up and lasts less than 2 minutes. Maybe that’s why you are so angry and hateful

It’s not how long it lasts, it’s what is on the video that matters. He shows exactly what happened. We see Sean saying he can’t believe he was let in the room. He shows someone (Wilkow?? ) stating that Sean said if they see Mike they should get the cops. We see Mike being ejected from the event, and being questioned by security personnel in the parking lot. All for doing nothing
How exactly does that fit your concept of FREEDOM ????

Ya know Sean, you might have a point about the portrayal of this thing as a Klan rally (although I’m not sure anyone said the event itself was rascist - just that there were an awful lot of whites there - and not many of anything else).
But what has really shown through is the right’s tendency away from freedom and liberty and towards authoritarianism. George Bush won’t “meet and greet” regular Americans. He’s totally insulated from Americans (the 65% of us) that think he’s doing a poor job.
You’ve been fair to me on your radio show. But your peers, Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Rusty Humphries and Andrew Wilkow have all threatened and/or attempted to silence me in the past. If the liberal case is so weak, what are they afraid of?

I went to your concert (and btw - until you had kicked me out, I had let the Freedom Alliance keep the $67 I paid for my ticket - even though my media credentials got me in the park for free) in order to see what conservatives were all about. If your listeners said anything stupid, sure… it would have gone up on my site - just as any number of consevative crashed anti-war protests in order to document and highlight some the idiots on our side.
The difference, I’m afraid, is that you sensed I was more interested in documenting the idiocy from your VIP’s. I was really looking forward to talking with Mr. Delay and Ann Coulter. I was interested in what lee Greenwood and Hank Williams Jr. had to say. You see, I spent four years in the Marines listening to Hank Williams Jr. - I was forced to whenever I camped with my friends from Alabama, Kentucky and Georgia… I even grew to like some of it (Why do you drink? Why do you…) I thought it would have been interesting for him to give us the reasons he thought it was important for our guys to be risking life and limb in Iraq.

Since liberals are about 50% of America according to the last election, you used an event that was supposed to support the troops to further your political agenda. I was there to document that too.

You miss the point. Nobody is saying anything derogatory about those that are raising money for the cause. Many of us find it sad that the fundraising is necessary at all. Not because we believe lives will never be lost in defense of our country,or because we don’t believe our country owes anything to the families of the fallen. On the contrary, we think it should be a government responsiblility to make sure the children of our fallen soldiers are properly taken care of.

yes, there is a very good chance you will be seeing this on a television show that airs on a non-fox cable news channel. The host is a good looking fella that really likes baseball a lot. He’s really funny too.
I’m hopeful, but it is certainly no lock. If this story picks up any internet buzz, he’ll probably want to do it. If it trickles out, well, then, I dunno where things will stand.

I would be interested in knowing exactly how much of that money actually got to the kids of the fallen soldiers? Usually it is a miniscule amount the rest is eaten up in administrative fees, like salary and perks to the talking heads that show up then the pittance that is given the named recipients isn’t known. LIke three million dollars and the charity gets 80K so what gives, and how much did hannity get and coulter?
I’m actually more surprised they didn’t arrest you than I am about you geting tossed out. Great line about it not being hard to get them to say something stupid.
Ok, Then I ask you. Please provide examples and or proof that any of the Hannity talking points that you posted are true.

Are you against the GI Bill? Are you against people that have served in our Armed forces getting extra benefits like lowcost/low interest loans (VA) ? Would you be against soldiers all having in place life insurance policies that would help take care of their families if the paid the ultimate sacrifice? Were you against increasing the death benefit paid to a soldiers family from $12,000 to $100,000?
If your answers to the above questions were no, then why would you be against the government guaranteeing a college education to the children of those that died protecting our freedoms?

I was in the military and I tried to us the GI Bill. It was a big pain in the butt to get the money from the goverment. When they get our money they do not want to give it up.
I would have rather had the money up front and saved it for college. It would save me a lot of time and aggravation. And I would have recieved a better rate in a savings account.

Something is fishy here….13,000 people raising 7 million dollars averages over $530 a head for tickets. Is he counting the GROSS, or the NET in that number. Is he including waived performance fees from the entertainers in that number? If he is, you ban be damn sure most of them are claiming a hefty tax break for their “donation”. If he’s counting corporate sponsorships,then he has to submit to public accounting of the charity. Is his “FreeDumb” fund kicking 7 million to the “charity”" I’d like to see the charitable donation report to make sure. If he’s bantering a 7 million figure, then he better damn sure be kicking the whole 7 million in cash to the charity. If a significant fraction of that is from corporate pockets, I want to know who they are, and how much they are getting in tax breaks for their “donation”.

Most charitible events do not count their costs in their stated donation figure. I belong to an organization that has run an MDA fundraiser every year for almost 30 years. The figure we use is the amount that is on the check to MDA. We do not compensate talent, and we do not issue “donation receipts” for in-kind efforts. When we receive coprorate monry, we openly say the donor and the amount, with the exception of those who wish to remain unknown…but we still publish their figure. We have given in excess of 2.5 million directly to MDA in our history. I personally find it disingenuous for anyone to report in any other manner.

If he does open up the books, and all the money is going to the cause he claimed, it will only give him the ammunition to turn it around and say “All these left wing radicals were accusing me of being a crook when all I did was good.” Or however he would phrase it.

As far as “who needs it”,it’s not really about that IMO. It’s about who EARNS it. With the amount of working poor people we have,that should be pretty evident. We have a skewed COL and a crappy minimum wage. Benefits are crap for the majority of workers. It might be good for middle managers and CEO’s,but try working at the Dollar General Store sometime. Never worked there myself,but the folks who do that I know will tell you straight out it sucks. Or WalMart(flag waving good ‘ol boys that they are),screwing people to death and putting small business out of business.
The point is,I don’t trust corporations any more than I do the government. They are one and the same anymore IMO.
As far as the last point,this administration(like so many in the past I might add) has done jack crap about the problem. I’ve heard all about our “booming” economy and how there are soooo many jobs created. Where? McDonalds? And a sizeable share of government jobs as well. Not too good to a fan of small government. In fact,I don’t get this administration at all. At least with Clinton you knew what you were getting. Same with Bush 1.
What gets me is WHY any American gets booted from any stuff like this. My 3 teacher friends were booted from a Bush rally in Oregon during the election for wearing shirts that said something like “preserve our constitutional rights”.
What is happening here in our country when simple AMERICANS can’t peacefully voice their opinions, which supposedly are guaranteed by our constitution/bill of rights?

The most likely scenario is, I would think the sort of deal Hannity & ilk made with GA made the thing to be something more akin to a private party, thus allowing them to do what they want. Not that it’s right, and the way things sound, it was mighty cowardly. But there probably was some sort of waiver signed that basically allows them to remove your brain when you walk past the giant teepee there. (Actually, is the giant tee pee still there? I remember that from when I was a lil’ kid going there in 1975. I also remember the acrobats on the 200 ft sway poles that used to be in the arena that the sham took place in. Would be fun to see Coulter run up one of those sway poles. Pull it back and launch her like a catapult).

I don’t question the intent(at least,not for most of them) of the attendees. I feel that those people who came honestly DO care about the troops and want to help them.
I do question,however,the politicization(lol,fancy) of the event. And if the situation had been reversed you’d hear Sean scream to high heaven on air about those “wily libs and their political whoring of our soldiers away at war”.
I think the main reason folks are upset(including myself) is the obvious hypocrisy. Liberals get painted by Sean and Bill and Rush(and let’s not forget Ann) as being these devlish individuals who would do exactly the things they did at this event.
And that’s not EVEN counting my outrage at them using an event that was purportedly benefit our soldiers(some of which are Democrats) to push their agenda. How do those soldiers or their families feel I wonder? Do they feel all glowing and warm when Sean goes on the radio bashing hell out of Democrats? Will the money they (might) receive cover that kind of affront?
Far better for them,and the troops to leave their political baggage at home. And for the record,if it had been a Dem sponsored event? I’d be pissed off about it too. Thing with charity is that we insist people jump through hoops and put on a happy show for us before we’ll open our wallets for any cause. If there’s a worthy cause then people should care and they should give. Charity is just inefficient, and when the show is over the money dries up. That’s what I think anytime I see a Freedom Concert, telethone, Walk for Hunger, or any rally.
