TIMES, THEY ARE A’CHANGIN’ - IN A DAMNED GOOD WAY
Published by Mike Stark August 8th, 2006 in UncategorizedI just returned from some GOTV efforts.
I’m sitting in the bloggers room at about 9 PM and the place is electric.
The buzz is that Lamont’s gonna win this thing by at least 10%.
I can’t begin to think about what this means for November, but I’ve gotta say that I’m beyond giddy at the prospect right now. Maybe, finally, after four years of imploring, cajoling and begging (and yes, some yelling and screaming at) our leaders, we might have gotten their attention. It’s too bad it’s happened this way, but we didn’t make the choice.
And in the end, if the result is a spine transplant for the rest of the Democratic caucus, well, this is a damned good thing. And it’s been a long time coming.
I’m gonna go bask in wonder of it all for a while. I’ll try to post again before I leave, but no promises.

10%… probably not
5% would be nice, but its not even gonna be that…
as of now… ap reports that ned’s up 51.82% to 48.18% with 86.63% of precincts reporting.
It’s too bad. Lieberman is my favorite republican
Doesn’t matter what percentage it is: LAMONT WINS.
As for Joe Lieberman and Sean Hannity, like I said elsewhere: TWO LOSERS.
Has anyone considered that if Lieberman runs as independant he’ll divide the democrat’s votes and maybe we lose the seat to the republican a la gore/nader vs. bush?
Just a thought.
Here’s a thought.
Lieberman runs independent and proclaims his war stance. People see Lieberman and whoever the Pubbies pull up as standing for the “same old, same old”.
The vote splits, but it hurts the Pubs instead.
Just a thought. It wasn’t mine initially though. Another person was thinking along those same lines adn the discussion ended up there.
But it seems to me to pose as big a problem for the Reps as it does the Dems. Right now with public opinion as low as it is,Republican candidates definetly do NOT need any more politicians hunting votes in their playground.
Unfortunate for them I guess.
BTW Matthew,I agree with your post. I don’t think I made that clear.
Myself, considering the Rovian 11th hour tricks the Lieberman campaign tried(supposed hacked website, blah blah),this may well have been the idea from the get go. That is Joe lost,he would run independent and try to hold votes that the real Democrat candidates need. Joe wouldn’t be the first to be a plant,or to play benedict.
When liberals say spine transplant they mean getting rid of it altogether.
Congratulations on your win, folks. This should certainly spice some things up around here. Finally, someone willing to stand up to Bush!! It’s a very unique and exclusive position; the cutting edge of chic. It’s sort of like being Hezbollah.
First things first, get that Universal Health Care set up in Connecticuit, quick, so that it’s effects can be felt in full force by the next elections. Oh, make sure you pull out of Iraq too, no matter what. That’s important. Lastly, make sure to do lots and lots of blogging for Ned Lamont and run amok like syphilitic sycophants crashing websites and creating pictures denigrating the opponents as Niggers, Fags, and Dirty Jews. Then have the former telecommunications Greenwich businessman put down the digital camera and turn around to say, “Blog? What’s a blog? I no know internet.”
The world is your oyster; pearls before swine.
I think we need a new label for the Joes and Zells. DINO (Democrats In Name Only) is too much like the repubs RINO which I think we copied, because I’ve heard RINO used for ages, but only recently heard DINO. We need to call them something like (Democrats In Liberal Disguise Only). To explain what the acronym means may not sound as slick, but the acronym itself is more interesting and degrating to the turncoat Dem. Just a thought.
Somebody sounds like a sore loser!
Aww,it’ll be okay little neocon buddy. Hopefully it won’t take long to fix the screwups your boy got rolling.
And if you’re panging over Holy Joe’s website being hacked, don’t. People have already seen through that trick and know exactly what Joe tried to pull. Must suck when you can’t even get sympathy votes after your server crashes from too much bandwidth.
BTW,I gotta ask. You’re words above,”Niggers, Fags, and Dirty Jews”…can you tell me why it is,since I’ve been coming to this blog, that the only people who spout such things are neocons like yoruself?
I’m not understanding you. Is this racial issue you’ve laid on us,is it projection? Has your therapist sat down with you and had a long chat about this problem? If not,I’d find another head-shrinker.
Iriseon. You should RUN out and buy a copy of John Dean’s “Conservatives Without Conscience”. See, He lays out in perfectly valid and tested scientific terms that you and your ilk are Right Wing Authoritarians. You lash out because you’re terrified, and you need a big strong despot to hold you and protect you from the heavy weight of actual freedom.
Go crawl under a rock, you closet nazi.
Leave the protection of American Democracy to the actual Patriots.
“Go crawl under a rock, you closet nazi.
Leave the protection of American Democracy to the actual Patriots.”
Well said.
The sneering Authoritarians…their days are numbered, and they will become increasingly shrill as that fact sinks in.
Our task is to attack them with overwhelming force.
Time and again, I hear them say, “The Democrats don’t want to meet us halfway; with the Democrats, it’s always their way or the highway.”
The truth is just the opposite. They own our government, and it’s STILL not enough for them. They offer us war, deficit, exportation of jobs, no healthcare, no government protections, just corporate protectionism.
We have nothing in common and there is nothing to negotiate with them. We need to remove them from the picture.
Too bad Lieberman lost. He is a good man who stood up for the right things going back to being a Freedom Rider in the ’60’s.
On the other hand, his Nov. 2005 Wall St.J. article was a George Romney in ‘67-style act of political suicide. Iraq may have been a good concept, but the execution has not worked to date and all resonable Americans have to work to fix it.
John Minehan said:
“Iraq may have been a good concept”
Just what the hell is that supposed to mean?. The word “concept” is one totally devoid of emotion. “Well, the concept of 50,000 dead Iraqi civilians (population equivalent of 500,000 dead Americans) is much more of a tragedy than your comfy American-centric mind is willing to entertain. Your taxes paid for it, the blood is on your hands.
The words we speak matter, they are alway a mirror of the mind speaking them.
Screw Romney, the WSJ, Lieberman, and politics. What are you doing to wash the blood off your hands, Mr Minehan?
What the hell did you do with your emotion and humanity?
“Execution” my ass.
