Anniversary Post

Well, CAW’s one year anniversary just passed.

It’s been a helluva year.

And all of that came before the George Allen follies and the latest dust-up with KSFO/Disney

So… what will the next year bring?

Well, it’s not an election year, but the Presidential competition will heat up quickly. I’m guessing that a Republican candidate will become the clear nominee even before caucus/primary season. They have a tendency towards group-think and lock-step in that way. The democratic contest will be up in the air for a long time. And can change at the drop of a hat - especially if Al Gore picks his giant self up off the backbench…

So I’ll certainly be a part of that excitement.

Other than that, however, I’m a law student. I am not a seer or fortune-teller. If you look at the pattern of what I’ve done so far, it becomes clear that my activism is nothing if not opportunistic.

Hannity Sucks Ass

So I can’t really say what I’ve got in store for you in 2007. All I can tell you is that I’ll keep up the fight.

(You can sense what’s coming, can’t you?)

Ugh.

I have to do it again.

Looking back over the last year, I think I can safely say that I’ve spent well over a thousand hours on this labor of love. The results, such as they are, speak for themselves - we’ve got a Democratic Congress, talk radio is on the run and politicians everywhere are on their toes because they’ve seen what’s happened as a result of netroots activism. Let me be clear - I’m not claiming credit for all of the aforementioned - there were pioneers before me, there are voices louder than mine and the real credit belongs to the thousands of people that talked to thier neighbors, hung a lawn sign, canvassed neighborhoods and donated cash and sweat to their candidates of choice.

That said, I know my commitment has been intense. I’ve so far not profited one red cent - to the contrary, I’ve spent more money fighting the good fight than I have collected through any of my fundraising appeals. Y’all have been extraordinarily generous, but I’ve put your money to good use in taking up my various activist pursuits.

Anyway, my financial situation is about to change. Put simply, my wife is pregnant with out second, she’s going to have to take some time off work (so we’ll miss her paycheck) and as a student, my income is student loans. Unfortunately, these loans aren’t enough to cover day care, let alone our mortgage and the rest of our living expenses. In that situation, the first casualty,at least to a degree, is going to have to be my activism - I just won’t be able to pay for as much unless something gives.

Well… that’s the point of this. Do you see that little PayPal thingy over on the right? Please consider clicking a few dollars my way… My website host hasn’t been paid in months (and I just asked him to build DisneyHatesYou.com for me) and, well, as I approach the time at which I’ll be facing the loss of my wife’s income… ugh. Just know that everything y’all do for me is mucho-appreciated.

Finally - if anyone has any idea how I could flush out a permanent sponsor or benefactor - if any of you move in fundraising circles and think that what I’m doing is important and “fundable,” please shoot me an email through the contact form at the top of the page.

Always faithful,
Mike

you may not have profitted now, but lets be honest.

    Mike,
Best of luck in this new year. Have you considered contacting George Soros? I am sure he could kick some major bucks your way.

Thanks man..you’re loyalty is unquestionable. Haven’t seen much like it. Excellent job Mike!
Melanie Morgan calls you a “stalker”, enemy of the state, etc. but she’s retarded and all you do is paint these idiots in a corner and expose their theocratic, hateful, poisonous nature.

p.s. Didn’t Hannity learn anything from all those people on the street, from so many different walks of life, admonishing his cardboard cutout?
Sean - 3 out of 4 people that know who you are think you’re hurting democracy, debate, and the country itself. Wake up, dummy.

(josh beat me to it). UVA standards are apparently slipping quite a bit.

Is that you holding the Oh-so-classy sign about Hannity?

Nice. At least you spelled it all correctly. I’ll give you that much.

I signed on to this site after seeing (allegedly) you (Mike of course) on Olbermann talking about his experience with O’reilly (potato chip) radio call in show. I think you must have mentioned this website’s name at least three times. After hearing your end of the ordeal with Fox Security, I knew this was a website that I could get into.

Thank you for the time, effort, and space that you provide members with.
