Actually, it is stalking. While Stark’s actions are perhaps not legally actionable (yet), they are consistent with stalking behavior. Here’s the psychology:
On the relatively rare occasions when people try to get close - physically, emotionally, socially - to those they hate, it’s for the purpose of hurting them. Although we tend not to describe it this way, such behavior is a form of attraction - albeit a perverse and destructive one.
People who yield to this impulse misinterpret negative attention as genuine, meaningful interaction. They construe their ability to dominate that negative response as a sign of their own potency. Failing to recognize this ability as merely destructive rather than creative, they rely on it as the basis of their identity.
