If terrorists wanted to hit the US while we are at our weakest, they would have been active here over these past four years while our military has been depleted. They aren't in Iraq simply to fight the US. They are in Iraq now because we ousted the only person who could keep Iraq stable (albiet, through dictatorships that no one wants to live under). They are fighting a civil war that has made their country very weak now. Those who really understand how the world works should be able to see the similarities between Iraq and the former Yugoslavia. It's very difficult to keep control of one nation under three very distinct groups of people; all vying for control of the country. I wish we would have used a much smarter thought process before ever going into their country. I know it wasn't an ideal place before we decided to declare war with them, but we never had a good reason to bomb them. We gave ultimatums, and then never followed our own ultimatums. Do we feel this same necessity for all of the other dictatorships known worldwide? Stay the course? What exactly is the course? Forcing our views on others? Playing world policeman even though much of the rest of the world didn't support our cause? Invade for oil? Revenge? America had so much respect and integrity before Bush and his croanies came along. I miss that national spirit that was once there. I was around the last time a war split our country and I had a feeling this would be a war that would end up doing the same thing. I praise the military for their purpose. Our country was founded on the sacrifices the military has made. However, I don't agree that every war is a necessity. I think we were manipulated into believing this necessary. You would be amazed how many people believe we are there because Iraq caused 911. I would say that's a very sad thing that Bush was able to do; create fear and false belief to support a war. Very sad indeed. And McCain will be more of the same. These people need to wake up and see the direction this war is taking us. Is there really anyone who supports this war other than those who have already lost someone there, those who feel guilty that we caused their country to become so unstable, and those who believe Iraq caused 911 (a complete falsehood)?

Thanks for visiting!John McCain has been widely criticized for his insistence on Bill Bennet’s radio show last week that “there are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today.” (audio) While browsing McCain’s campaign site today (don’t ask), I came across this gem in the “in the news” section. The McCain site is highlighting the transcript of an ABC segment on Baghdad in which the correspondent correctly states that “nowhere is safe for westerners to linger.” Apparently whichever low-level staffer is responsible for finding positive news about the Iraq fiasco didn’t take the time to read the article. Way to go McCain campaign. You’ve successfully made a mockery of your monumental blunder by highlighting an article that directly contradicts one of your key campaign messages.
