We’re all freaks

My fellow Americans…

I ask you this… Who amongst us hasn’t scratched their balls and sniffed their fingers? Who hasn’t humped a warm apple pie? Spent a lonely night with a favorite dog and a jar of peanut butter?

Or, if you are a woman, who hasn’t spent a little too much time hanging out at the jet nozzle in the pool? Enjoyed a motor cycle ride for all the wrong reasons? Spent a lonely night with a favorite dog and a jar of peanut butter?

OK, so for Democrats, the preceding was hyperbole, but you get the drift (if you’re a Republican, just be glad I went easy on you).

The point I’m making is that the human condition is really pretty tragic. We’re the only species that cares about sexuality; that knows shame intimately. I don’t know how old Larry Craig is, but he must be at least 60 or so… And even after being caught in the most compromising of situations, he’s clutching denial for all he’s worth. I’m not sure what that does to a man, but it does help explain the humanistic disconnect required of a man with his voting record… He’s repressed so much for so long that he’s lost touch with what it is to be human.

It really makes me wonder what the rest of them are hiding.

Here’s a pretty fun conversation I had with Lars Larson this earlier this evening.

(A site note: I may have to disable comments for a spell until i figure out what’s making the audio files drop every time someone posts a comment. We’ll see how this one workls out…)

I agree with Lars in the sense that we shouldn’t have any class of people that is more protected than another. I do believe, however, that we haven’t arrived yet to a point where everyone is considered equal as human beings, no matter what your race, religion, or sexual orientation is.

You commented that someone who paints swastikas on a Jewish family’s house should get punished for more than just vandalism, to which Lars responded with a resounding “No.” My response to him is that, today, if a Muslim (or really anyone for that matter) commits an act that strikes *fear* (intended or not) into the population, some of these same people who are against labeling a crime a “hate crime” will call the formerly mentioned act “terrorism.” Why not just “vandalism,” or “assult,” or “murder?”

I honestly think we should punish people based on the crime committed, and not make up new laws based on motivation. Sure, someone’s motivation could be aggravating factors if they are found guilty and sentenced, but I hope we can someday we can get to the point where we no longer give special protected status to one group over another.

As much hate to listen to Lars Larson because I can’t agree with most of what comes out of his mouth, he does make sense. You commit a crime, then it’s a crime regardless of the victim’s age, race, religion, sexual hobbies, job, etc. In your assumption Jason that the Shell Oil Co. exec deserves to be victimized because he chose to work hard, educate himself and is just doing a legal job he is paid to do as we all are is, and you don’t agree with what he does professionally, while on the other hand the homosexual does not deserve to be victimized just because he/she likes to have sex with their own sex, is a Nazi-like thought. Special classes of people? The Nazi “Brown Shirts” thought they deserved special treatment in society and other groups of people should not have the same rights and privileges. That seperates society and works against any group of people trying to be treated equally because any group that wants ’special’ treatment can never be treated equally by the rest of any society they want to ‘fit’ into. Hard core liberals can be just as blind and hypocritical as any hard core conservative.

Woops, my apologies, Jason. I meant to say “Mike” in my reply to Mike’s post.

Not every crime is the same. Hitting someone in a bar fight because they touched your girlfriend and hitting someone because they are muslim are two different thing. In the second case, you are also (purposefully or not) trying to spread fear to the other member of that class.

You make an excellent point. A lot of people say that intent (or “motive”) shouldn’t be considered in a trial. But, intent is all-important. Its the difference between involuntary manslaughter and first degree murder.

Spray-painting your “tag” on somebody’s wall is an act of petty vandalism. Spray-painting a swastika on a Jewish home, or the ‘n’ word on an African-American-owned store, OTOH, is an act of intimidation and terrorism - a threat of violence against an entire group.

The entire point of the “hate crime” designation is that, beyond the obvious crime against an individual lies a much larger threat of intimidation and coercion against an entire group.

Those who don’t understand this probably can’t tell the difference between hitting a baseball through your neighbor’s windowpane and Krystalnacht.

There is one thing, every single human knows.
Which most humans find part of your ‘freak’ portrayal.

That being…. everyone, every human knows what a booger tastes like.

Study four and five year olds and you’ll see lots of behavior, that continues into adulthood.

    LOL

“Hard core liberals can be just as blind and hypocritical as any hard core conservative.”

    - If you believe that, Bob, lemme ask you this: Where is the “liberal” Ann Coulter? Who is the “hard core” left-wing “Michael Savage”?

    Where is the audio recording?

  9. 9 American Election 2008

James Carville…Al Franken to name a few Idoogye…

MSNBC did a poll of journalist who donate $$ to a political party. An overwhelming majority, a 9 to 1 margin give money to the Democratic party over the Republican party.

    9 to 1

  11. 11 smass

You conveniently leave out that a small minority (less than 10%, if I remember correctly) donate money to political parties at all. Way to cloud the issue.

When are you going to post your call to the Neil Boortz show today? You have to admit, he smoked you pretty good! I think you’re loosing it. Lars cleaned your clock too. If you couldn’t get the recording, I’ll post it for you.

  13. 13 AnonymousCoward

Al Franken? Had you said Mike Malloy, we might have had a discussion. Comparing Al Fraken to either Michael Savage or Ann Coulter is really unfair IMHO.

  14. 14 Frank

    Um… I’m just curious.
Has the former law school drop-out/fail-out quit the “activist” scene?!?

Not a peep from the old, fat man since August?

    Where is he?

I’m sorry Bob and American Election (pretty exalted opinion of your status in the grand scheme of things there, eh “AE”?) — BUT, I’m really tired of this “They all do it, and so a pox on both your houses” bullshit! They DON’T all do it! There is NO left-wing Ann Coulter. “Michael Savage” lives in his own self-generated private hell, and as for the other usual suspects (Hannity, O’Reilly, Limbaugh, Boortz, etc, well, they seem incapable of civil discussion or debate. The bluster, they bully and intimidate, they sneer, smear and lie outrageously. If that doesn’t work, they cut your microphone. Who on the left behaves like that? Get your heads out of Fox News and come into the real world!

  16. 16 AnonymousCoward

Cutting the microphone? Sam Sedar was an EXPERT at that, and trust me this is coming from someone that listened to him and Janine from the start. Al also didn’t have callers into his shows so it’s hard to compare.

I think the combination of “Right wing doing a show’ is what brings out the worse in the right wing talk shows. They love to insult the ‘opponents’ (democrats mostly) and callers that don’t agree with them plus they cut the mike to ensure they control the format of the show. It sucks!
