I’ve got a weakness

It’s not like I have time for this or anything (sheesh - I thought the political off-year would free up some time for me, but like any other addiction, there is no tomorrow when it comes to quitting). Anyway, between NotOneRedCent (look for it soon), law school and my new baby boy (in addition to my 2 yr old girl), well, I should really not be doing this tourny…

But I’m gonna do it anyway. These things are always a lot of fun.

It does sound like fun. But . . . . . . . you are right to say that you should not be doing this. Gambling (that is, losing money) is not something that you should be spending time doing right now, or probably ever. The time you are stealing away from your family to do it will not help your cause with them. You are also stealing time away from us, your supporters and fans, when you could be doing the good work. Finally, the money you are losing doing this will be taken from more important causes - such as your children’s college funds and your very important political causes. Even if you were playing golf with that money, you could justify it as physical fitness. And don’t tell me that it is psychological fitness to play poker. There are too many alternatives that will not exact this great a cost on you. No, you should not do this.

By the way, I am not one of those who is against gambling on moral grounds. Do whatever you want with your money. I am against gambling (for me) because it is a stupid thing to do with too hard-earned money. It would be smarter to spend it on junk food.

That’s my opinion. This IS a blog, isn’t it?

Brian - it’s free… and I generally don’t lose money playing hold-em. It was a great diersion during the first YKos out in Vegas. A bunch of us went out and played in a few sit-n-goes… I ended up doing pretty well.

Ah… but the family concern… the ol’ appeal to conscience… eh… screw dat. It’s one afternoon, and I’m doing it from home. They’ll still ove me in the morning. ;-)

    Mike,

I can’t believe you would be doing this. Clearly, you have lost the right to call into Bill Bennett’s show.

How are you handling the new baby and law school? In my case, I found the pregnancy manageable, but now that he crawls its a nightmare to study!

    AC:

LOL. You need a wife. Mine is awesome - without her, there would be no law school. With two kids this young, there’d be just no way.

    Hi Mike,

Hope you did well and would be interested in an update.

And a friendly challenge. Could be fun.

Heard you on Stephanie Miller yesterday. Sounded great, but you referred to this blog in the past tense. I can’t remember your words exactly, but it was something like, “I used to have a blog called Calling All Wingnuts . . . ” Is this over? Should I take it off my favorites list? Should I stop looking for updates every few days. “I have a weakness” has been the most recent entry for weeks now.
