I think that one of the things we owe the people who live in Venezuela is a realistic attempt to let them live healthy and productive lives, no matter what kind of government they have. Unfortunately, they have Chavez who is like GW on steroids.

If Venezuela were to use their oil revenue to improve the health of every citizen and make sure everybody got a chance to attain a high level of education, they would be able to grapple with whatever other problems come along successfully. Venezuela has a golden opportunity that is being wasted by BOTH sides.

The future of civilization is people. Healthy, educated, happy people. We can't do it for our own citizens reliably and I really hat it when we fuck over another bunch of people because we love to spoil their lives.

How quintessentially American is ruining somebody's life just in case you need his resources?

Welcome back Mike, got a little worried when the site went down.

You really have to love the part where she was talking about a rigged election. Seriously? We tried to stage a fucking coup on a democratically elected leader and HE'S the bad guy... Wow.

It's a pretty easy look through history to see exactly why they all hate this guy. It's really simple. He isn't giving everything to the upper class. If he was systematically raping the resources of his country, dropping wages, and destroying unions, he would have been invited to sit behind Bush at his latest speech. But he is spreading the dangerous idea that everyone can benefit from the nations wealth and that is something they cannot tolerate. What if it happened here? My god, it would be chaos.

It's really that simple. This country is being run by, and giving air time to, really fucking sick people.

Olbermann had a good comment on this last night, and the potential damage HRC is doing if she loses the primary through the "unprepared" attacks....but I don't assess the harm as being lasting, as majority of the American voting public has the attention span and short-term memory of a goldfish. Recent days, her campaign has begun floating the "ticket" concept. I could care less which one of the two is at the top. I would like to see the party go one further, and outline the majority of the CABINET prior to the general election to show the country that the Democrats are ready to hit the ground running on day one.

MY dream team:

Secretary of State: Bill Richardson

Attorney General: John Edwards

Secretary of Defense: Wes Clark

United Nations Embassador: William Jefferson Clinton

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Max Clelland

Homeland Security: Jamie Lee Witt

Combine Agraculture, Energy, Interior and Transportation into four departments controlled by one single cabinet Secretary with four undersecretaries, and put them all under Al Gore.

Secretary of Health & Human Services: Joe Biden

Secretary of Education: Dennis Kucinich

Secretary of Labor: Open

Secretary of Treasury: Open

Your thoughts?
