TIMES, THEY ARE A’CHANGIN’ - IN A DAMNED GOOD WAY
13 Comments Published by Mike Stark August 8th, 2006 in UncategorizedI just returned from some GOTV efforts.
I’m sitting in the bloggers room at about 9 PM and the place is electric.
The buzz is that Lamont’s gonna win this thing by at least 10%.
I can’t begin to think about what this means for November, but I’ve gotta say that I’m beyond giddy at the prospect right now. Maybe, finally, after four years of imploring, cajoling and begging (and yes, some yelling and screaming at) our leaders, we might have gotten their attention. It’s too bad it’s happened this way, but we didn’t make the choice.
And in the end, if the result is a spine transplant for the rest of the Democratic caucus, well, this is a damned good thing. And it’s been a long time coming.
I’m gonna go bask in wonder of it all for a while. I’ll try to post again before I leave, but no promises.
Well, I’ve not wanted to write this post. I hate doing it.
But law school beckons. I move to C’Ville next Monday. I’m going to try to post what I can until then - and I’ll be going out to CT tomorrow to audio-blog the happenings - but CallingAllWingnuts is in its death-spiral.
If you don’t like the sound of that, I’m open to ideas.
But the fact is that with a wife, toddler and 1L law school schedule, there is just no way I’ll be able to give the time necessary to run this blog properly.
I will keep the domain going. And from time to time, whenever possible, I’ll surely post some calls. I’m also going to make an attempt to make a weekly (but it’ll probably be bi-monthly if law school is what everyone says it is) person-to-person call with whatever wingnut I can reach. I’ll record these conversations on speakerphone and post them.
I really do not want to let this project die, but I won’t have the time anymore. I mean, it isn’t just hitting redial and holding for an hour. It requires reading blogs for hours a day to know your arguments (and the complete truth so you can identify the constant lies), it requires editing the clips and it requires listening to these shows. Hannity, Limbaugh and O’Reilly, taken together, amount to eight hours a day. That leaves out Brian and the Judge, Rusty Humphries, Jim Bohannon and Alan Colmes…
Ugh… I’m rambling again. I guess that’s because I really don’t want to let this baby die. Talk radio is a cesspool of disgusting rhetoric. It furthers every single Republican agenda item. It wins elections for Republicans from the Presidency to dog-catcher.
And just the sliver of sunshine that CallingAllWingnuts has shone upon this sewer has, in only six months, brought you:
- Oliver North’s “Freedom Alliance” ROTC trainees caught doing something kinda sick…
- (video) More Gestapo tactics from Hannity’s “Freedom Concert”
- Rush Limbaugh answers a question about viagra
- Busting Hannity for his shameless hypocrisy
- Ann Coulter has a beard (no, seriously…)
- I chat with Newt Gingrich - and ask him about bringing divorce papers to the hospital for his wife to sign as she’s being treated for cancer
- (another video) Meet Mike Stark
- I ask a Fox News host to take off his make up, leave his four hundred dollar haircuts behind, and join the war effort he supports so much…
- Tom Tancredoand I talk a little bit about immigration and being honest with his constituents…
- Was Rush Limbaugh a sex tourist?
- Saddam O’Reilly
- Hannity and I chat about your favorite blogger (not me)
- Byron York, chickenshit
- Just a run-of-the-mill Rush Limbaugh beatdown
- Witness the self-immolation of Rush Limbaugh
- Another coward threatens to sue me
- “Alice” pounds Rush into the dirt
- Hannity gets crushed
- More ridiculous Hannity
- Magnificent Abortion Wingnuttery
- Rascism from Tony Snow
- Pounding another rascist
- Rush, me and Social Security… he loses…
- The first time Bill O’Reilly punched himself in the head
- Bill’s follow-thru
- Andrew Wilkow and more abortion wingnuttery
- O’Reilly, Cheney, kittens and woodchippers
- Lieberman Hannity Lovefest
So if you are a student, if you ar retired, if you are part of a DFA Group and can bring on partners… let me know. Email me through the contact form. I’m more than happy to share admin rights to this blog if it keep it alive. For the most part, so far, I’ve been one person. Imagine what we could do with 2 or 3 or 10.
I’ll have a Hannity call up later on today.
Hannity Doesn’t Like Me… (no, really!)
124 Comments Published by Mike Stark August 5th, 2006 in UncategorizedSo today Salon mentioned this blog (so did Ari Melber at the Huffinton Post) as it relates to the Lieberman race. I still remember listening to Hannity on my way home from Baltimore and thinking to myself “Holy shit! Holy Joe just stepped in it! I can’t wait to get this up!” The “Hannity-Lieberman love-fest” post was one of the first to blow up my server (the one I had then) and I’m happy as hell it became an issue in Joe’s campaign.
(While I’m here, I have to shout out to John over at Crooks & Liars - without his help, that clip would have most likely died with my server. He hosted it for me and that’s where it really took off.
One more thing about John - any aspiring bloggers out there need to know that he’s one of the best people in the blogoverse. When I was tiny, he reached out to me and gave me all sorts of valuable advice. without him, I never would have been able to grow from tiny to middlin’.)
Anyway, I’m not even drunk and I’m rambling.
So Hannity talked about the Salon piece (he’s all over the Lieberman race lately - and he promises to have something interesting to say about it on Wednesday). Since I was referenced in the article, I called in under my own name. As luck would have it, Lieberman had just gotten done on the Ed Schultz Show talking about his feelings that Rumsfeld is incompetent and should resign.
A later caller talked about RINO’s and the need to purge their own party. I thought Hannity’s basic agreement/non-response was interesting.
Lieberman said Rumsfeld should resign today on the Ed Schultz Show.
He also said that’s been his position since 2003.
Atrios says “not so much”.
Hannity hearts Lieberman (A LOT! MORE THAN THE REPUBLICAN!)
13 Comments Published by Mike Stark August 4th, 2006 in UncategorizedThis is actually two calls from two different shows on two different days spliced together.
Adigal, from DailyKos (and a Wingnut Spinner that actually got a call from Fox Security back in that O’Reilly dust-up), posted a diary on the first half of this clip - the one where Hannity says he’ll support Lieberman over the Republican in the CT general election.
Once I got him on the record for that, I had to call and say thanks.
Republicans are doing more to elect Ned Lamont than any elected Democrat. (We do need to be careful to give John Kerry props though - he’s one of the few that have come out and endorsed Lamont for the primary. Of course it is fine to be suspect of his motives (why wasn’t ol’ Skull & Bones listening to us when it mattered?) but it cannot be denied that he’s doing the right thing by us (finally)).
I was on with Craig - who really should have his own show. He was filling in for Stacey Taylor on KSLD.
I didn’t really go out to Hannity’s west coast concert for mouth-breathing nose-pickers. Since he reads this site, I thought it’d be fun to keep them on their toes. I was kinda sorta hoping they’d issue a deck of liberal terrorist playing cards with my picture as the Ace of Spades.
Anyway, I didn’t do it to deceive any of y’all… just to play with the Hannity crew for a bit.
Lots of content coming today.
Glenn Greenwald on Alan Colmes (Murtha lawsuit)
15 Comments Published by Mike Stark August 3rd, 2006 in UncategorizedThe lawyer representing the Marine that’s decided to sue Rep. Murtha faced off against Glenn Greenwald last night.
Two key questions:
1) Who is financing the lawsuit?
2) Why assume malice on the part of Murtha - a guy who’s established a long track record of support for the military and who himself spent 37 years in the Corps - especially since he went out of his way to insulate the individuals from the brunt of his remarks by saying that the battlefield stress - stress resulting from the decisions civilian leaders have made - was the root cause of the atrocity?
Bad news first: it looks like things have receded on the television front. I had rec’d a call-back last week telling me that they’d be interested this week, but this week has come and I got another message from them expressing regret that things didn’t work out this time…
But there’s good news too…
We’re YouTubed…
Crooks & Liars digs us…
And best of all, tomorrow is Hannity’s Freedom Concert in San Diego. We’ll be trying again…
In the morning, I’ll be on KLSD-AM in San Diego - kind of welcoming Sean and his motley crew to town.
Today will be a travel day, so it might be hard for me to post.
